Good Morning!
Good Morning!
Yesterday we got our laundry done, groceries got, floors mopped, rugs vac'd, outside of trailer washed. I even had a few hours to sew before we went to our friends out at the campground where we MAY host Jan/Feb and had pizza and played Big Bang Theory Trivia. Full day! We stayed up clear until 10pm! Late for us! Today, no plans. Will probably work some more on my Tenn. Waltz quilt.
CHICKIE - hope you are feeling better. That must have been an exciting game! Wish I'd seen it. Bill enjoys the Seahawks, but he's not much on watching other teams play. I could sit through more games but don't push my luck here.
TINA - did you get Jaz's quilt finished? Sounds like Christmas will be full and happy at your house! How is your mom doing?
CAROL - glad you are feeling so much better. Hope the urologist appt went well for you!
JANA - I hope you got everything you need now for your big dinner. I remember as a kid my little sis and I getting matching dresses every year from "Santa". and I also remember one year my mom leaving out scraps of that fabric for us to 'find' so we would start to tumble to the big Santa Secret. We were about 6 and 7 yrs old then. And I also can recall advising my sis to not let on we knew because then we'd stop getting presents from Santa!
IRISH - so sorry you were sick. I hope you stay better! A bug seems to be running through our whole forum. I'm holding my breath. I got my flu shot, but this seems to be a bug not covered in in the shot this year. A holiday surprise, I guess. That was a big errand list you had for yesterday! Did you get them all done? And Terry comes tonite!! Yay!! And the little eaglets - what cuties they must be!! You know, none of us will ever see an eagle again without thinking of you!
BECCA - so sorry your eye appt wasn't a good one. Did he expect any more improvement at all? And have you got your baby quilts planned yet now that you know you have a boy and a girl coming soon?
DH is off to the gym this morning. While he is gone, I'll wrap the last of the few things I have for him. You know, we draw names in our family for Christmas. He drew my oldest DD, Lara. I kept asking him before we left home, "Have you thought of a gift for Lara yet?" He got impatient and said he'd do it when he got down here. He was too busy at home. OK. So after about 3 reminders I kept quiet. Yesterday I asked him what he finally did for Lara. (he does all his shopping on-line) He completely forgotten!! So he got on the computer and finally found a pair of black 'diamond' stud earrings and paid extra to have them gift-wrapped and delivered by Dec 23rd. When he screws up like this he always gets mad at ME! So he was a tad crabby the rest of the day. Men!!
Since we ended up with pizza last night, we're going to grill those burgers tonite. The weather should cooperate to be grilling outside.
Got a plan yet?

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning!
We are chilly here and cooler today than yesterday. I got all my groceries, except what I probably forgot, visited with Mom (stayed across the room from her) and took my sisters’ and Mom’s gifts. The Hooligans accompanied me shotgun and were happy to receive treats each time I returned to my truck.
I found some Sudafed at the store—the kind without the Sudafed and took some when I got home. I sure slept well last night—Irish, I thought of you… it was supposed to be “non drowsy”, but I sure slept well.
Mary your dinner and game time sounds like so much fun! That was a pretty exciting game. I don’t see many, but this was worth watching. Oh, gosh… don’t guys just hate being reminded, then… I’m sure you were kind of snickering to yourself.
Jana—I have made dresses for DD and remember Mom and Grandma making our dresses to wear for Christmas and Easter.
Irish—sorry you found “the bug”. That darn truck!!! Yesterday afternoon I was sure it made a u-turn and came and hit me again! I see eagles and think of you, too!
Tina—you made at least three quilts for Christmas! Plus, you made all those comfort quilts… you are… drum roll, please… SUPER QUILTER!!! I hope you can find some rest after Christmas dinner!!!
Carol—glad you’re among the living again. I hate being sick and thankfully don’t get sick very often.
Becca—that’s just so exciting to have more baby quilts to make—twins! I’m still excited for you!!! Sorry your eye exam wasn’t all you hoped it would be. Patience…
DH has been finding a bunch of the cast iron pots and skillets that Anna Mae and I had in the kitchen before the fire. He’s been cleaning them with wire brushes, and I’ve been seasoning them. I have my pot rack that he hung for me totally full. I can’t believe how many pieces we had between us. I have two big skillets, two big bean pots/dutch ovens, a bunch of smaller skillets… I could start a store… I really thought most everything couldn’t be revived. One small bean pot and one big lid cracked in the heat. I know the house fire was HOT as glazes on my high-fired pottery melted. They were fired at 2300 degrees originally.
Let’s see… dinner… I have a pork chop left for DH. I’ll fix a baked sweet potato and figure out the rest later… definitely fried apples. He’d never had pork chops with apples before we got together… now it’s a staple! I think I’m going to make me some kind of spicy soup… Southwestern vegetable, I think.
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
Mary - I have always made matching dresses for my nieces every Christmas when they were little. Sander, who lives across the street, still remembers and tells everyone about them. Her'son was blue, the cousins were green. Now I have three granddaughters to sew for - they are finally getting big enough to fit patterns I have. For Gracie'so BD in February, I have a adorable pattern that I made 35 years ago, that reminds me of Little Bo Peep's dress. Leggings, pinafore and dress, lots of ribbon and lace too.
Emma's dress is at least cut out, but when we bought the overlay fabric, I was short, so I will take Studio driving out to JoAnn's and see if the still have that piece, otherwise, I will punt and figure something out.
Dinner tonight will be just Michael and me. The kids are meeting up in SLC to go to a family wedding reception and see the lights on Temple Square. I am taking Kate and Gracie to the train for their trip into SLC. Gracie loves trains and this will be her first ride on one. So I may get DH to eat Out!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: Good Morning!
Good afternoon from a very dreary, chilly, but warm inside, SW. Pa....
Mary, you do have full days, don't you? Always busy!Yep, this is the day or evening....I just had a text from Nick and they are on their way....Still can't figure out how Terry got so many days off but I'm so glad....The cats won't be too happy with having the dogs in the basement but, they'll get over it....The boys just love BabyGirl, call her the "Fun Cat"....
That's kind of typical with men and gift buying, isn't it? Very good idea about drawing names, might have to suggest it....Not sure if Kathy would go for it, she loves to come up with the most original gifts for everyone...Every time we stop at the mail, there are boxes from her, lots of boxes..The good thing, I get to play Santa and pass them out.....Maybe I'll get myself a red hat.....
Chickie, not sure what kind of a bug has hit but it's not fun, is it? I was almost afraid to take my "non drowsy" stuff again..But, I think, other than the "snotty" nose, I'm much, much better....Boy, you really have a treasure chest with all the cast iron, don't you? I have 2 pieces and love, love them...Years ago, when Kathy was having problems with her ex, I told her she could borrow my frying pan, just to be armed, lol....
Jana, I love hearing about the dresses you make for the little ones...Brings back a lot of very good memories...I often think, I probably wouldn't even know how to start a dress now, lol....But, do wish I had saved the patterns I had used....
Becca, so sorry to hear about your eye appointment...But, you know, it might just take longer and in the end, it will be fine....But, it is hard to be patient....Have you thought about the pattern for the twin's quilts? That is so exciting.....Hope your day is a good one, for both you and your DH.....
Tina, I agree, Super Quilter! My heavens, do you ever rest? Have your parents told you when they are coming or will it be a surprise? Don't you just love dealing with older people, lol.....
Well, we did more running this morning and I think it might be nap time for Jim....I think tomorrow, Terry will stay with his Dad and the boys and I will do some running....Still after gift cards and you just never know what or where else we might go...It will be a treat to have those boys to myself.....
For our dinner, tonight will be the spaghetti and meat balls....Yesterday, would you believe the car pulled right into the Subway parking lot.......Haven't gotten the cookies baked so hopefully, will get a batch or 2 done and that will be afters.....
But, now I'm off to finish the sewing/bedroom and finish some laundry.....I have company coming, I gotta get busy!
Happy eating...................

Good Late Afternoon!
Tonight's dinner will be Parmesan Chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli. it was planned for yesterday, but we had pasta and turkey meat sauce instead!lol
Maryz - Glad you found time to sew. Your place must seem cleaner with all that you accomplished yesterday!
Jana - Hope you can find the fabric at Jo-Ann's!
Chickie - Glad to hear you were able to save the cast iron! What a treasure!
Hope everyone gets well or stays well!
Carol
Irish - You got sick too? Take care of yourself.
I managed to bake some cookies today and mix up some others, so dough is chilling. I went to my knitting class too.

Re: Good Morning!
I was very lucky and found the fabric I was looking for. I bought it about 3 months ago and really didn't hold out much hope, but it was there! I have the dress just about done - all that is left is the side seams and the band on the bottom that makes the hem. Very little hand work on the facings.
Now to wrap everything.
Kate did dinner - alfredo with chicken and spinach tortellini. Very yummy.
