Good rainy morning! I think we can turn off our sprinklers for the season now. We've got a rainy week ahead of us and once it starts, it usually keeps up for the season. the season being October to July. haha! There is a reason we are called the Evergreen State.
We took Jim & Terry's dog, Mick, a mini-Aussie, to visit them yesterday in the care facility. Mick knew the minute I drove into the parking lot that they were in there! He went berserk before I even got the car parked. Jumping, whining, crying, barking, more jumping. I could barely get the leash on him. And OMG, when he saw his mom and dad, he just went crazy! He didn't calm down for 15 minutes! Everyone in the entire place was smiling! Dogs are incredible! and just think, lucky CHICKIE has three incredibles!! Imagine the scene if we took all of them to visit!
CHICKIE - so, you are a trend-setter, a leader, a legend in your own time, with your rebel ways. Maybe we should call you "Chickie Yuma". Now let's see if you can get that reference . . .
JANA - well, if we traveled through Utah, and there was snow, we know where we can hole up - for the entire winter if necessary, right? lol! ;o) Actually, we did have to hole up in Laramie once because of weather. Brrrrr . . . Bill watched movie videos, I sewed, and our pipes froze. Now we do most of our winter traveling through California.
CAROL - Christmas cards! Well, especially when you are ordering them, it's not really too early, is it. I saw Christmas trees all lit up at Costco last week. I'm probably the only person on the planet, but I love it!!
dinner tonite? hmmmm..... I never did make that sausage and red beans over rice. So perhaps that will 'do'. Or I might make a skillet scramble. Though my sis should be back by suppertime and she doesn't like onions, and I don't think I can make either of those dishes without onions. Poached eggs on toast? Chicken noodle soup? I guess this morning I need to take stock of what's in the freezer. Maybe there's something amazing in there that I forgot about - like a ready made meat loaf or a turkey breast. But I doubt it.
Did you all catch Delores's recipe for chix tortellini soup that she posted in Oct 1's, sew-in? Looks tempting.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Oct 2nd
Good afternoon! We have another lovely day! I hung out laundry. It’s almost 80 with chilly nights. Fall is definitely in the air. And, sadly… the humming birds have left the area… I’ve only seen two in the last several days. I’ll keep a feeder up in back and in front until the middle of October… just in case there are stragglers. I’m enjoying the “seed” birds at the feeder outside my sewing room window—sparrows, chickadees, cardinals, titmice… the woodpeckers haven’t been here in a few weeks, but they WILL return.
Mary—that’s just so sweet about Mick’s reunion with his mommy and daddy. I’m sure that was the BEST medicine for Jim ever! I used to take my little Dusty doggie to the care facility to visit a neighbor. Dusty always wanted to go visit her at their house, then when she was in the home, I took her to visit. We had to stop and let everyone pet her as we made it to Miz Garretson’s room. Dusty loved it all, and people who never responded to anything else did to her. You are right… dogs ARE incredible! And, I love my three Hooligans!
“Johnny Yuma was a rebel…” I loved that show!!! And, speaking of rebels… it just follows me… we WERE going to have sedate steaks and trendy tofu last night, but… DH came home from DS1’s and said to get ready to go to a birthday party. I made some jalapeno beer bread and then we hopped in the car… Instead of the smoked ribs they had had the last couple of years… luscious lake fruit!!! So sorry! If it’s any consolation, I ate too much and had a tummy ache later… I think it was because I didn’t have any vinegar to counteract the “fried”ness. On the other hand… what a way to go!!! YUM!!!
Tonight… I promise to be good… Steak!!! Tofu. Summer squash. Tomatoes. Those red beans, rice and sausage will be later in the week. I saw that chicken tortellini soup—yum!!! I saved it in my recipes. Enjoy!

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Tonight's dinner is Pasta and Meat sauce, Salad and Garlic French Toast. I really want a big fruit salad for dessert, but may just have watermelon. I really missed my fruits and vegetables this past week.
Maryz - How can one not like onions? I don't eat them raw, but they add a lot of flavor to most dishes, including meatloaf. Can't wait to hear what you came up with to serve your sister. I loved the story of the dog, Mick. Jim must have been thrilled to see his dog.
Chickie - You go to the best birthday parties!! Glad you had such a good time!
Miss you Becca and Irish!
