SUPPER CLUB - Mon, Aug 29
Good Morning!
Whew! When it cools off here, it really cools off! We were sweltering in the 90's last week and we'll be having evening fires this week. But today will be purrfect - 75*. Our old trailer is ready for sale. She looks pretty good for being almost old enough to vote! LOL! And the new one - we are down to hanging pictures and installing things like towel hooks, dispenser racks for napkins, tissues, waxed paper, etc. I've found a place for everything but our round tray. We use it a lot while camping. I may have to swap it out for a rectangle one from the house. Bill has already knocked out a blind panel and found empty space to make another cabinet for us! Whoo Hoo! And he's got his eye on another spot that might make a purrfect bookshelf for his book-a-holic wife . .
CHICKIE - I hope you get some rain soon. Odd how it seems to miss you. Are you in a rain shadow? And yes, our guests will get to use our trailer even before we do. We DID have one night in it when bringing it home. But it's easier to change sheets and towels in the new one than to reclean the old one. I think. I wish we had a guest room, but that went away when the long arm arrived. How did that pork tenderloin turn out? It sounded good!
TINA - I think you have a dr appt today - hope he/she can give you some answers and some relief. I don't think you have MY backaches because if you do, then I'm having someone else's! We bought a 3" foam topper for our mattress in the RV and it's made a big difference for me. Doesn't fix existing problems, but I don't wake up stiff and sore anymore. And all the guests who have slept on it rave at how comfortable a night they had. Ask Mary Q!
BECCA - do you get massages often? Does your hubby? It might help him. Mine really helps my back. But massage therapists are like any other health care providers - and that's how I view mine - he keeps me up and mobile. Some aren't as effective as others. I got a good one right from the get-go. I was nervous at first, never having had a massage before. He's young (to me, though he has more grandkids than I do! lol!), rides a Harley, and has a long ponytail. But a kind, gentle, thoughtful heart. He even came to the hospital when my brother had his big surgery last February to sit in the waiting room with us.
JANA - all kinds of things happening in your family! so exciting to watch the new house being built. Is it in your neighborhood? I hope they are able to get in by Christmas. That is so cute - Gracie's, "Happy Happy Happy".
IRISH - please me you didn't fall off that ladder!! I worried all day. But then I'm picturing gutters high in the sky like ours. Perhaps yours aren't so 'airy'?
Today is cleaning up some fall-out stuff like boxes, discarded items, cleaning rags, etc. Then clean the house, do a bit of grocery shopping, and make some appetizers. We are having an impromptu happy hour party. Several friends wanted to come over for a glass of wine so we just told them all to come at the same time. Nothing like a dead line to keep me on task!!
Our dinner will probably be those appetizers - whatever they are.
What's the supper story at your house?

Hello everyone, nice day here not as hot.We had 3 really hot humid days.
Maryz The massage is a first.DD has tried many times to give me one& I always said no I wouldn't go.But my back has made me change my mind.I am giving it a shot to see if it helps. Our DGSs wife is great but she lives 31/2 hrs away. She has her own business.Sure hope it helps because my back is the worst it has ever been other than when I pulled muscle & had spasms.
Sure hope your Trailer sells fast.Enjoy your evening with friends.Nothing like having company to get you motivated.
Jana I had to laugh about Gracie & her Happy happy. They learn fast.Hope their house goes smooth with no bumps.
Chickie Hope the rain soon comes your way.We had a really dry Summer but finally had a rainy wk & it helped.
Tina Hope the Dr can fix your ills.
Irish I have too wondered about you & the gutters but I know how days can go.With DH I just do whatever.Jumped in car this morning which I had no plans to do so we could get banking done.I try to never have him with me for other than one thing to do.It wears him down.He is really down now after the 3 days we had of activity.
It will be light here as he has no appetite at all.I still have pasta. Will add some fresh veggies.Lots of cake & pie left.Becca

Good late afternoon from a gorgeous, warm, sunny, SW. Pa....Boy, I am really late today but I do have a good excuse...
But, 1st. no I did not fall off the ladder..I'm very good with ladders and heights, most of the time, lol...The gutters run the width of our house and are on the back porch but it isn't nearly as high as the main roof..The biggest problem is trying to put the ladder up while not messing up the flower bed..And with the guards, it's mostly just taking the leaves off, not really digging into the gutter for all that yuck....As I've said, I'm finding I really can do things I never thought I could...AND last week, I actually pumped gas for the very 1st time...Now, aren't you all proud of this 79 year old broad?
Mary, our Kathy goes regularly to have her massages and now has Tim talked into it..I just wish I had someone around here who I could trust...Years ago, I did work for a chiropractor BUT didn't like the way he practiced and sure wouldn't let him touch my body, lol.....
Tina, Hoping and praying you get some answers, good answers....You know, you probably just have to slow down, you're too busy taking care of everyone else and need to pamper yourself once in awhile....
Becca, Boy, I know what you mean about doing those unplanned things....With Jim, he now gets something in his head and it's there, no changing his mind...But, what else do I have to do, right??? So happy to hear you did have a good weekend....And I could see where DH would be tired as well as being down....
Yesterday I had the nicest lady from the VA call about getting some sort of home respite care...She did say Jim qualifies and would be setting up a meeting with a care giver..Then today, we had a meeting with a social worker at the VA office and he more or less told me pretty much the same thing although, did give me a couple of numbers to call for further care...He said, not that I need it now but down the line, this would be good to know...We left that office and my mind was spinning, lol....Then we stopped and visited with my sister and her DH...She had been having problems with water coming in, mold was behind the paneling and she ended up in the hospital...They had to have the whole side of her house dug up, pipes put in, walls sealed and then 16 dump truck loads of stone put down, then dirt and hopefully, some of the shrubs can be replanted...What a mess! And then she gets to do the inside.... But we sat and talked until Jim got tired....So, it's been a good day, didn't do anything around the house but feel as if I accomplished something, I think......
Our dinner will be burgers on the grill...I just picked a super tomato and can't wait to put in on a burger.....Kathy keeps sending me pictures of the tons and tons of tomatoes they have picked and here Iam with 1, lol......
It's been a good day and as Gracie would say, Happy, happy, happy...
Happy eating....................

Good afternoon!
I am doing the Gracie dance! Happy Happy Happy! Michael, with a very little of my help was able to get the embroidery I needed to combine on the old computer and then sent that file down here to this computer and I have successfully run a sample. Sarah has now been commanded to get her tushie here and cut out that dress. Friday is fast approaching! We will get it done. It is a simple pattern only six pieces and facings.
Dinner - well - Crenda just called and she and the kids will be out to do some more yard work tonight. Only thing I need to do is feed Matthew when he gets here. I know his favorite is banned noodle cassarole, so that is a possibility, then again, I may just run to the store and grab a few steaks to feed them. They deserve something good!
Irish - don't ever be surprised at all you can do! You are one great lady!
Becca - it always takes me a day to recover after all go home - I am looking forward to seeing all the kids, and then my rest when it is all over!
Mary - if you weren't so far away - I would try to talk Matt into buying your guest cottage. I even told him that we could take his truck up to get it, but I didn't get far. They are now just starting to look for a possible RV, but really need a bunkhouse type. Crenda wants to wait another year or so, until Baden is a little bigger.
Enjoy!
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Mon, Aug 29
Our lack of rain is crazy! We have big storms and the green and yellow and red patches on the radar map within a mile of our house… NOTHING!!! Over and over again! The latest was this morning, after yesterday, last night and about every day prior for a couple of weeks.
I made a cookie and decorated it for DGD down the road. She wanted a rainbow and a waterfall. Talk about a challenge!!! I added a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The hooligans and I took it and left it on the counter so she can find it when she gets home from school. Her birthday is tomorrow… 15. Then, we stopped and played with Ava before returning home. It’s so steamy outside!
Mary—sounds like you are getting your new home away from home fixed just like you want it. Neat to have a handy man who can find extra space and make it for fabric storage!!! I’m assuming you can’t make a bracket on a cabinet door to hold your tray?
I was very disappointed with the Thai chicken and won’t be making it again. It said it made 4 servings, but there are at least 6. I think there would have been even more if I’d made a pork roast instead of the little loin that I used. DH did not like the pineapple cooked with it. I didn’t mind it, but I would have liked MUCH MORE flavor—HEAT or something. It was super bland, even with the red pepper I used. We added more at the table. That will be the feature re-run tonight.
Irish—we don’t have gutters to clean. DH hates them, so I have to deal with being careful with my plantings so they don’t wash away, but there are no gutters to clean, and that makes DH happy. I hope you are safe!!!
Jana—love it when computer stuff works!!! I want to come to your house…whatever you are serving!
Irish—I laughed about the pumping gas! Lucky you to get away with not pumping for so long!!! I remember SERVICE stations, and I definitely miss them!!! Oh, I do hope you can get some care so you can get some spare time!!! Your poor sister! I’m sure all that work will help the drainage around her home, but what a lot of work!
Becca—I’ve only had two massages, but oh they were wonderful and relaxing and rejuvenating… aaaah! Enjoy!!! Oh, yeah… we have some cake here, too. LOL! DH likes his dessert.
Tina—I hope you feel better after your appointment! HUGS!!! I know you are sick and tired of being sick and tired!
Tomorrow I have to help DH mow at the rental… not looking forward to that. It’s just so steamy here!
Time to go clean floors or go to my sewing room… where will I go???
