SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, Aug 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Aug 04, 2016 3:54 am

Good Morning!

we are 55* now but will be going to 76* and sunny by late afternoon. Purrfect weather for me!!

I finally finished my Texas backing and it's already for the quilting to begin! But my quilter is busy repacking wheel bearings on our fifth-wheel right now. I call that kind of stuff his "second job". got my sewing room cleaned up and I'm not sure what's next - but maybe a shirt for my son for Christmas. A heavy duty plaid flannel.

BECCA - Normally I'm not a napper either, but the massage in the morning had me so relaxed. and then the weather, the fire, and a good book did the rest of the work! So sorry your hubby's pain hasn't seen any relief.

JANA - I'm wouldn't be a fan of your weather! I guess I skipped over the part (or forgot!) the part about you having a yard party. Fun to plan! We really enjoyed ours and it gave us a reason to get the yard in shape quickly!

TiNA - you are a young gramma but so was I when ours were little. They are exhausting! I'm not sure I could run after toddlers now from my great age of 65. You are Super Gramma!!

IRiSH - what a challenge you have trying to come up with a meal every night that will tempt Jim. Does he like soups? Yes, it was chilly here a few days ago. So we had not only an afternoon fire but snuggled under quilts and cats!

TINA - you could have made chicken enchiladas and covered both your food ideas.

CAROL - I hope you don't need a second C.T. surgery. I'm sure my sis will regret their decisions. People ask me for advice all the time because I'm a nurse. and yet, to a person, no one takes it!! and my brother and SIL ignore it altogether. So I tell most folks now to go Google things - they'll get more up-to-date info and not frustrate me! lol!

Tamale pie last night was a hit. and we've got the full meal deal again for tonite. DH even commented that he liked it, so I guess I'll keep that recipe.

Wishing you all good eats tonite!

Carol Sure sorry you will need more surgery.Would a brace help?

Jana Fixing a yard is a big job but you seem to have lots of help.

Tina If I had to keep up with toddlers I would need a nap.Couldnt do that now,got too many miles on me.

Irish It is great that Jim likes Ensure.DH will drink it but not fond of it.Hope your day is filled with sunshine & a peaceful one too.

Got all my errands completed .Need to mow but will see.Having leftover pizza & fresh salad. Will make breakfast tonite.....Becca

Mary, I thought about doing chicken enchiladas but my chicken was frozen. We have leftovers now Lol No I'm not super grandma, crazy grandma yes Lol
Irish, I bet that is hard to come up with meals for Jim.
Becca, how is your DH doing? I hope he gets some relief from his pain.
I've already had a morning........ Ugh.
I'm not sure about supper because we do have leftovers and I really am not looking forward to cooking so I'll figure something out with these leftovers :)

Good later afternoon from, what was warm and sunny but now, warm and overcast...It does look like we might get some rain but that's OK.....

Mary, I never thought I'd say I miss "playing in the kitchen" but I do....Not that I was that creative but I did my share of cooking and now, my pots and pans are feeling neglected....As I've said, thank goodness for the Ensure..And I've suggested making shakes but Jim likes it just as it is...If I had to drink it, I'd need extra ice cream and lots of strawberries and maybe even a little whipped cream on top....

Tina, I agree with Mary, you are Super Gramma and a darn good daughter also....All you do, you're just like that Energizer bunny.....I'm in the same boat as Becca, too many miles on me also, would never be able to keep up with little ones.....

Becca, Thank you so much for the sunshine and peaceful wishes...So far, it's working...Hopefully, we'll get through this evening....I love having breakfast any time of the day......

Carol, I must have missed it but just the thought of more surgery doesn't sound good, yikes!....Will keep you in my prayers.....

Sure didn't get much accomplished today...Changed the bed and that was about it....Jim and I sat on the front porch for awhile and then my neighbor, Donna, stopped over and we did some more sitting....I did finish the baby quilt so now we need the baby...
For our dinner, I'm thinking left overs from last night...Jim did eat and said how good everything tasted so should taste even better tonight.....Jim does love mashed potatoes and could eat them almost every night, so tonight along with the spuds, gravy and chicken, I'll add a veggie for me.............Strawberry shortcake for afters.......

Happy eating....................

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Tonight's dinner will be Orange Zested Chicken (and maybe an orange glaze?). I just saw the recipe on Betty Crocker today. Sounds very easy.

My right wrist is actually worse than the left one was before left had surgery, however the right only has tingling every once in a while. Appointment is to keep an eye on it. I do wear a splint at night. The splint was made by the physical therapist to fit my hand. Thanks for your prayers and kind thoughts.

Irish - I think I would be with you about strawberries and ice cream in the Ensure. Thankfully Jim is drinking that! You need to make sure you are eating well however even if Jim doesn't, so get in the kitchen and make something for yourself!

Becca - Always so nice to have all the errands done. I hope you don't have much to mow.

Tina - I needed a nap today and I didn't even watch kids! lol

Carol, can I come eat at your house? My favorite! I hope you get your other wrist fixed up to.
I'm making squash and Frankie is going to throw a Burger on the grill, I'll freeze the leftovers.
Irish, I'll run by your house for dessert, another favorite of mine.

Tina - The chicken was really delicious! I combined the two recipes and the chicken had a nice citrus flavor. Next winter I will be zesting some oranges from our tree and freezing some orange juice and making some orange marmalade. Today I had to buy an orange and orange marmalade. lol
