SUPPER CLUB - Wed, aug 3rd
Good Morning!
We did have our boomer storm yesterday. It woke up the cats and we got a good soaking! I'm not sure where yesterday went. I played some in the sewing room after my massage. And I took a nap! I rarely nap but since it was stormy yesterday afternoon, Bill build a fire and we all - Bill, me, Riley, Foxy, and Scottie - all lounged around and eventually fell asleep! What a great afternoon!
We got a text last night from my brother's wife. Jim has been having hip/thigh pain for weeks and I kept telling them to go to the doctor. I thought, from his description, that it might be a stress fracture, a pulled muscle, or his bladder ca had gone into his bones. FINALLY, they went to the doctor for a CT scan to follow up his February bladder cancer surgery - and they saw a stress fracture on the scan. He's supposed to stay off it for 6-8 weeks. Of course, he's been walking around on it for at least 3 weeks that we know of. Keeping Jim down is hard work. They got home from the doctor yesterday and Terry said he already wanted to go out to his tractor! One of the problems with staying off his feet is that his mobility is already so compromised from his Parkinsons that his muscles will be jelly and he'll need P.T. to be able to walk again. And he HATES P.T. We're taking pizza over to them today for lunch - a way of keeping him in his chair for a little bit, anyway. I'm going to suggest they have a P.T. come to the house and teach him some exercises to do while sitting so he doesn't lose so much muscle tone. they won't do it, but as a nurse and a sister, I feel compelled to try.
TINA - so happy for your mom!! your family needed some good news!
IRISH - well, even if Jim gets you confused with the 'she' who does all the work, at least he remembers he's married to somebody!!
BECCA - I often use leftover front fabric for the back, piecing it whatever way I can. I like a hodge podge look. One time I cut all my leftover flannel from kids pj's, shirts, etc. into 10" blocks and serged them together. made a great backing and I enjoy looking at the various prints and remembering past projects and people I made them for.
CAROL - my routine is to get up between 5 and 5:30, sometimes earlier (depends on Mr. Dog). I feed the crowd (have two cats, too), grab my coffee and computer, and here I am! I tried to talk my sis and BIL into rescheduling their 'elective' procedures. They won't even consider it. Oh well. I can only do what I can do - especially from 1,400 miles away.
CHICKIE - we had boomers and pouring rain yesterday. I felt guilty because I know you need the rain more than we do! I used to drag hoses every day when Bill was working, but when he retired, I told him he could take over that job. He could care less about flowers, but he loves our rhodies, so he simply used a network of small PVC pipe and hoses, sprinklers and timers. He sets it up in early summer and takes it down in the fall. Now, the only things we have to water are the pots on the deck. The timers will go off at least twice a day for as long as you set them. Some is sprinklers and some is irrigation drip hoses. .
JANA - what's the word from Utah?
Because we had an unusual afternoon yesterday - napping downstairs in the family room in front of the fire with the "kids", it kind of rolled into evening and no one felt like cooking. So we ended up with grilled cheese and grapes for supper. So TONITE will be tamale pie. Honest. I will cook up the hamburger mixture early in the day, then assemble the pie this evening and pop it into the oven. I found this recipe in my recipe box and thought I'd try it. If we don't like it, out it goes!
I hope whatever your dinner is tonite, you like it!

Hello everyone, sunny but hasn't been as hot last couple days.Only a sprinkle of rain is all we get.I could use a rainy day here.
Maryz I think that's neat using fabrics that give us memories.Of course I give everything away I make anyway. Those naps sound great.I cannot nap unless I am sick.
Carol Hope your day is going smooth.
Jana Your house is Grand Central always busy.
Irish After reading your post I wanted to give you a hug.Just hang in & try to keep laughing. That is my way here but yesterday was a rough one.He was really low after the test because he had hope they may help with some of his pain. But it won't happen.
Chickie Enjoy Tasha whatever fun you come up with.I remember when mine used to come. What fun we had.One year DGD wanted to learn quilting & basket making. We did get a basket made & she did a small quilt.
DH has requested pizza. So to get him to eat I will make one.Salad too.Becca

Good morning!
Yes we are busy Here! Dinner - pizza sounds Great!
Sarah and I will be heading off to a few LQS'so to grab some RBR'so.
Matt and the boys are coming on Friday to clean up the yard. Then Sarah will start adding plants and get the drip system running. Some of my gremlins pulled and removed the drip system pipes, so it will be a challenge to get it running again. We have about a month to get the yard party ready.
Not much different here, thunderstorms, heat, more thunderstorms, more Heat!
Enjoy,
Jana

Mary, a fire?! I'm already half baked here LOL but our thunderstorms and rain have cooled it down to the 90's at least but we do have the balmy now LOl oh well.
Irish, I chuckled at the "she" comment (((((hugs))))) my friend. We went through that with my DFIL, he was such a sweet man, it broke Frankie's heart when his Daddy didn't know him anymore.
Becca, no naps?! Come over and help me with these kids, I bet you'll take a nap then hehehe. Sorry yesterday wasn't a good day. (((((HUGS))))) to you too my friend.
Well I forgot I had red enchilada sauce in the fridge so we had that, tonight will be the chicken.
Tina

Good late afternoon from warm, sunny, gorgeous, SW. Pa...Another purrrfect day in Paradise.....
Mary, I couldn't believe what I was reading when you said you had a fire going...Everyone in the country is sweltering and you have a fire....But, you know, your afternoon really sounded great....Sorry to hear your DB is having problems, once again...And just being a sister gives you the right to give him advice...
Becca, It is so hard not to correct Jim but doc said, not to even try...In a way, some of the things do give me a chuckle...Oh my, I feel so bad for your DH..It must have been sad to get his hopes up and then that dreaded pain is still there...With Jim, he is in great health, getting pretty thin right now but other than his skin cancer, he's in good shape...Of course he doesn't ant to eat either and if he happens to mention something, I jump on it...Thank goodness for his Ensure, he loves it.....
Tina, I was so happy to see the news about your Mom...Wow, that must be a huge weight lifted from your shoulders...And, isn't Mary funny, having a fire in Aug.?
Didn't get too much accomplished today...Was trying to finish a baby quilt for little Levi (who has yet to make his appearance)...Did such a great job with the rug scrubber yesterday was going to do more today but need more cleaner, darn...By the time I get out and get the cleaner my "scrubbing mood" will be long gone....
And for our dinner, the chicken didn't make it to the table last night, Jim said he'd eat a bowl of cereal...So, hopefully it will be chicken tonight...........
Happy eating................

Hi Everyone!
Busy day here today. A follow-up with the surgeon. Everything is fine. He wants to see me in three months, because my right hand has carpal tunnel issues as well and he wants to keep an eye on it.
Tonight's dinner was leftover meatloaf, mashed potatoes, salad and green peas. I love leftovers!!
Maryz - A fire in August? You must have been cozy yesterday. As for your Sister and BIL I think they will regret their decision, but not tell you. lol I certainly am not looking forward to surgery on my right hand, it was hard enough on my left!
Becca - Hope you get rain soon.
Jana - You sure have some great helpers with the yard!
Tina - We are not in the 90's, but the bedroom was 84* this afternoon. I cannot imagine needing a fire either!
Irish - I think you need to have someone bring you some rug scrubber cleaner. You need to ask for help sometimes.
Prayers for all of you!
Carol
