Supper Club - Tuesday, June 14th - Flag Day
Howdy!
Today is Flag day - Michael has ours out in the front yard. So nice to drive around the neighborhood and see so many flags out.
Did my grocery shopping with Sarah yesterday. Stopped ofv at the farm store ahd got fresh grown produce. So nice! One of the few th7ngs I miss from living in California. I needed to learn when fresh is in season here, there, you can get anything at anytime.
So dinner tonight is a corned beef, trimmings, and fresh corn on the cob.
I will be working on the last border on the Bloom quilt. It has writing on it, so it is very directional and the piece from the kit did not account for that in cutting. So I will find my magic wand and make it work.
Irish - there are some class sport figures out there! The Penguins have one! Glad to see that Jim is getting hungry again.
Becca - so happy little Avery is doung well. I know of a couple of my friends babies that were born with a similar situation. Better safe!
Chickie - sure will be quiet at your home. After girls camp, will she be coming ba k for part of the summer?
Izzy - so glad you have joined us! You keep me wishfully young with all you do!
Oh yes, our cones are those large orange barrels and if the wind gets blowing strong enough, they move and squeeze the lane even smaller.
Enjoy,
The cooker, Jana

Re: Supper Club - Tuesday, June 14th - Flag Day
Good afternoon from another gorgeous, purrrrfect, day in SW. Pa...Sure can't complain.....
Glad to see the "Cooker" getting the table going today..AND who better to get us eating, right? I had to laugh at everyone's posts about the orange cones/barrels...Tis the season, we have them here, also....I often think, wouldn't you love to have been the person who had "invented" the cone and then paint it orange???? I love when you're traveling and you have miles and miles of blocked off lanes and after you get through the "construction/cone area" there was nothing being worked on...I guess they needed to store the extra cones somewhere.....
We had another visit with the "slicer and dicer" and Jim's arm is coming along, finally...The wound had been the size of an orange is now about half the size, so Regis is happy..Now we don't go back for a month...We do get a laugh, each time Jim would complain about it, I'd say, think of the pig that gave it's life for the skin graft.....And come to think of it, Jim has quite a few spots that have been grafted, sure hope he doesn't start oinking, lol.....
And on our way home, the car turned into JoAnn fabrics...Had a coupon for $10.00 off a $30.00 purchase so needed to use it, right???? Then we came home because Jim was tired...
This afternoon is hopefully finish the windows...Would love to get back outside but need to finish inside before playing in the dirt again....
Today, being Flag Day, would have been my Chris's 59th birthday..He's been gone a year and a half but there are times I really sense him being here....He would have loved watching the Penguins win the series but who knows, he might have been the one guiding them to the win....Oh my, I miss him......
Not sure what our dinner might be...It might be the burgers that I thought we were having last night....Don't tell Mary, but last night, I put some "mac n cheese" filets in the oven and Jim really enjoyed them.....
You all have a great day.....
Happy eating.................

Hello ladies.Another hot one here,no sign of rain.Watering 2 times a day now to keep them alive.
Jana You must feel like a cooker with all you are feeding.I m sure it's hard after not being used to preparing Meals everyday.I sure see a difference when we have company.
Irish sure happy to hear Jim is eating. All I would have to do is make cookies pie or cake.DH is a Sweetaholic. The chocolate pie I made yesterday is gone & the strawberry too.DD loves the fresh strawberries.I just make a pie crust, bake it ,then put the fresh berries ,slightly mashed, over the top.
Toda it is ribs,BBQ,summer squash, garlic,& onion sautée.And cantaloupe. Becca

Re: Supper Club - Tuesday, June 14th - Flag Day
Good afternoon! I’m trying to cool down after walking with the Hooligans down to see Ava. She really enjoys the visits, and of course I NEED to get in the walk!
Jana—yes, I’m sure DGD will be back for at least a couple more weeks this summer. It might not be next week, as she has an orthodontic appointment sometime—I think next week. I need to finish my Bloom quilt, too. I have the outer borders cut, but I’m thinking of maybe a solid between the top and that last border. The question is… what color?
Becca—I haven’t started twoaday watering, but it will come. I’ll be pulling hoses this evening. After working all my life and only cooking an evening meal, when DH retired it was a shock having to prepare three meals a day! Now I have him trained to brunch and dinner. Sometimes we will have a little snack.
I think our strawberries are finished for the season, but last evening I picked backberries (wild) and raspberries. This morning I had them in a smoothie. YUM!!! The tame blackberries aren’t ready yet, so I just stayed around the edges of the brambles last night to avoid ticks and chiggers as much as possible. Even with repellant, they are miserable!!!
Poor little Avery! I’m glad to hear she is doing better, and it’s good she’s staying inside to gain strength and avoiding germs. My DH is a sweetaholic as well. He never met a carb he didn’t like. I can’t say too much, but I’m not into desserts as much as he is.
Irish—we do the orange barrel polka here, too, along with the cones. Now I’m picturing Jim oinking for his food! Of course you couldn’t not use that coupon!!! Special hugs to you as you remember Chris on this day and always. I thought of you this morning. We had a UPS delivery, a new young man looking spiffy in those brown shorts!
Dinner here tonight… I think all the leftovers have been consumed, so steaks are thawing. I’ll have a big portabella for mine, and I think I’ll do a bunch of sautéed onions and peppers.
I noticed there are a couple of little pumpkins already set. These aren’t jack-o-lanterns but sugar pie pumpkins. I threw out some of the leftover seed from last year onto some manure piles. They are growing like weeds! I also have green tomatoes—won’t be long now!!!
Enjoy!

Good afternoon hot hot hot is all I can say about the weather here. Before I left this morning I put venison tenderloin with some teryaki and worstershire in crockpot. YUM. will make rice and beans and fresh salad as side:)
Got the church cleaned took 2 hours and that was 4 of us at it. then went to get daddys meds refilled boc to last til monday:) but I will be back there sunday for fathers day.
stopped and got moms pics developed and got me more meds for my arms and legs. UGH woke me up just burning and itching last night. I got a cream doc recommended due to he thinks poison ivy now has led to my skin soriosis inflamed cause it only acts up when I get hot--which is my skin issues. So we will see if it works tonight. I sure hope so.
got home waiting on DD to arrive then will head out to feed the heard and milk my girls:)
Irish so glad finally that wound is healing on jim:) poor thing I know he is ready for it to be gone.
jana I grow the fresh:) they ask too much at the farmers market here and its only open 2 hrs two days a week.
becca supper sounds yummy;) i love ribs:)
Chickie too hot here to walk anywhere. I sweat bullets then itch like a crazy woman just to get the feeding and milking done. Barn is hot. I am moving the fan in morning so I get better air circulation in there:)
Momma and daddy live almost an hour away from me. YUP lots of miles lately. I used to tanks of gas last week. But I only got one of each so I want to spend as much time as I have left with them:)
Well gotta watch for DD. Hugs all

Good Afternoon Everyone!
The quilting group meeting today was great. We had a Cinnamon-Nut Streusel Coffee Cake and then later a Yellow Cake with Penuche Frosting. Both were judged wonderful.
Tonight's dinner is Parmesan Chicken, rice pilaf, beets and a salad. The rice pilaf and beets are both leftovers so shouldn't be too hard.
Irish - (((HUGS))) for you! I am sure you do miss Chriss.
Becca - I know you are enjoying time with your DD. My prayers are with baby Avery and her Mom.
Farm Chick - I love growing pumpkins and haven't done so for a few years. Maybe I will give them a try.
Jana - Glad you found a good produce market. Maybe you should build a hot house to grow vegetables in the winter.
Well, the house is cleaner because of having company so tomorrow I can settle down and actually get some sewing done. Yeah!!
