SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 31st
Good Morning!
Well, we made quick work of May, didn't we! Even my grandsons were saying that time is just going too fast! Isn't it supposed to drag for young people??
IRISH - Yes, I do have my Christmas done for my sis and BIL. But remember, all our gifts come from thrift shops or whatever odd or goofy things we can find. We get the fun of shopping all year. We'll probably swing by my sisters' in CO in October on our way to Texas and celebrate Christmas then. But she can haul her own gifts back! Now to start working on the other sister. I already have a Mickey Mouse wall clock for her for $1.69. And it does work! Is TErry still there?
VELDA - do you put dill or dill pickles in your potato salad? I do. My SIL puts sweet pickles in hers. MY DD, Lara, makes the best potato salad ever! I taught her, of course. But she has become the master of P.S.
CHICKIE - I would go for all those tick-less berries you have! Two years ago, the big blackberry patch (the big Himalaya berries) where I pick was bulldozed, so last year there were none. But this year, they've growing back, so my walking buddy and I are keeping a close watch on them. No ticks here either! ;o)
TINA - glad thing are seem to be improving with your folks. How far away does your SIL live? What was for supper?
JANA - so how did Aaron's ribs turn out? Does he have a smoker? When I was a kid, my dad dug a hole in the ground, about 3-ft square, would build a fire, and put meat or (ugh!) fish over it and cover it all. That was his smoker.
BECCA - glad you are feeling some better. There's nothing like a good case of food poisoning! I've had it before and I have nothing but sympathy for you! Please hug and thank your grandson for his service to our country. I don't blame him for not wanting to go to the parade or be in it. I'm listening to an audio book right now that takes place in the Great Depression. The WW-I veterans in this story felt the same way. I just want to hug every single active military person and veteran!
I think tonite's supper will be grilled chicken and a big old salad. Maybe another veggie or maybe cheesy potato packets on the grill. We're going to have some great grilling weather this week and we need to eat down the freezer before leaving next Tuesday.
Have you got a dinner plan yet?

Good morning!
Mary--can you get some clippings of the blackberries and start them in your yard? They grow from just touching the ground and spread like crazy. I'm glad the patch is coming back for you!
I don't think I've met a potato salad I didn't like from warm German ones to cold German, dill, sweet, mustard, w/ or w/o eggs, red potatoes... All are delicious!
We were getting ready to go decorate the graves when DS1 called and asked if we wanted to go with him, DDIL and DGD. They came and picked us up. DGD was driving... she's almost 15 and did real well. Her mom was more of a basket case in the back seat with us. There was some drizzle and thunder, but we put out all the flowers and stopped for lunch at Braum's. It was a fun family time! I even got in some sewing time after and finished a little top I was working on. It's overcast today, so maybe -- just maybe -- more sewing time! I want to work on some UFOs.
Happy last day of May!!! (That's impossible, isn't it???)
Oh, yeah... dinner... I think it will be salad and the last of the pizza. It was so good last night that it will be a grand finale! June will be new food!

Hello everyone,Partly cloudy with sun too.Hoping for rain.My Heart goes out to all the people of TX.
Maryz I understand perfectly about Levi felling like he does. They are made do unthinkable things.Hard to forget that.Oh the berries. They are my fav & strawberries too.I haven't picked any in 4 yrs & I hope to this year.
Potato salad is one of my favs but I am picky.Sweet pickles here.My Mom used to make it up in a dish pan that she used only for that & mixing cookie dough. There was many mouths to feed. She boiled the potatoes with jackets on then peeled them.I like mine that way & cooked both.My Mother in law cooked hers first & hers looked like creamed when she mixed it all together. Now you made me hungry for some.
Chickie Glad you had a fun time with family.Thats the best.
Got the garden weeded this morning then went to town for groceries as they were having a 3 day sale that ends today.Out of 2 things I wanted but got rain checks.
DH has ham.I am still eating lite.I have jello & I picked him up his fav st the bakery. They call it an ugly.It is a doughnut rolled out With glaze. Becca

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 31st
Good afternoon from slightly overcast but nice and warm, SW. Pa....I think we are to be getting some rain and we sure do need it.....
Mary, I love your way of gift shopping and wish I had started that a long time ago...We all do like the thrift shops but it seems, we don't get the good bargains that you do...Maybe I should go more and really, really look....And to show how my brain is working today, I was caught off guard when reading your post to Jana...I'm thinking, when did Aaron hurt his ribs and why are you asking if he's a smoker, DUH! And no, Terry had to go back to N.C., had to be in the office bright and early this morning...But, he and Nick are coming this weekend for a wedding...I haven't seen Nick since Easter and am so excited......Did you check out his pictures on face book?
Becca, so glad you are feeling better..Don't think I've ever had food poison (even eating my food, lol) but from what I hear, hope never to have the experience....And while you're in the hugging mood, give that DGS a big one for me...You know, a "real hero" never wants to be praised or acknowledged... Hope your day is a good one...
Chickie, I'm kind of like you with the potato salad, bring it on....Sure sounds like you had a good day..Always fun to get together with family.....We also have berry bushes in the lot and if I'm lucky, I might get a hand full before the birds move in....
This morning, we had another visit to the "S & D" for a wound check up on Jim's arm...It's healing but not as fast as Regis would like...I did tell him, I love to see him, but not spend the whole summer visiting, lol...He's such a good person....And then we went to a carpet place and got new carper for the bathroom and the piece I got is so big, I'll have enough for both walk in closets...You should have seen us trying to get it in the trunk of the car and then coming down the highway with 1/2 sticking out....Never a dull moment.....
Since I'm in a shopping mood, I might take a trip to Home Depot and get the rest of the flowers..I keep finding spots that need something AND when we replaced the potty downstairs, I told them I wanted to keep the old one and plant it...Did plant some more of the garden and just have to get some zucchini and squash planted and I'm done, I think......
As for dinner, left over potato salad and maybe hot dogs...We've had the steak and the burgers, so hot dogs are next.....And, I'm not baking so it's ice cream for afters................
Happy eating................

Good morning,
Aaron's ribs came out very well for a first try. They tasted very good, but needed a slight bit more of smoking. He wants to do a brisket, but since they are expensive, we will learn on some cheaper cuts of meats for awhile.
Dinner was fun with all the kids. The little obes played outside and we sat on the deck and ate and talked. Played a game called Exploding Kittens - no animals were hurt! LOL
My niece and her husband will ge heading out in a couple of weeks in their motorhome to visit his family in Texas. Sandee only has this week left of teaching, then she is off.
Dinner around here is leftovers.
Irish - well your Penguins beat my Sharks last night, we'll see how the next goes. Only by one point.
Time to change the dishwashers - getting caught up from last night.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good Evening Everyone!
Two more days.
Maryz - I like how you shop too!
Chickie - I would definitely prefer thornless berries. We do not have very many boysenberries this year.
Becca - I like potato salad with sweet pickles too. Hope you are feeling better.
Irish - Your house sounds like you have lots of flowers! Bet it really looks nice.
Jana - Glad the ribs came out well. Just a few more times and he will have perfected them.
Tonight will be leftovers, Parmesan Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, salad and vegetable.
Hope you all are sewing daily. I can hardly wait until I can sew daily! Tomorrow I have a favorite class of 5th graders.
Have a wonderful evening!
Carol
