SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:58 am

Good lovely morning!

Yes, I am here! My 'procedure' went well. We went to breakfast afterwards and I ordered a fantastic meal. But could only eat a little bit of it. Guess my eyes were big. We were home by 9:30. DH built a fire and settled down on the couch. Said HE'D had a rough night, what with me jumping in/out of bed every 10 minutes, and he fell sound asleep for over an hour! Poor guy. Later I took a 2-hr nap but still felt sluggish all day. Last night I slept for 10 hours and today I'm a new person! Can't wait to dig into the chores!

BECCA - so sorry your family had to leave. Later today they will drive within 1/4 miles of my house to get to Hoodsport - unless they take the ferry from Seattle. But if they drive around, they will practically be in my living room!

IRISH - Ooohhh, emerald green!! I'd have that color in a heart beat!! Hard to find in vehicles any more though. I remember that my parents had a 1950 Olds they bought just before I was born. She was emerald green, too, Mom's favorite color. They named her Bubbles Van Aster. Bubbles because she was always bubbling to go and Van Aster because Mom said she was so fancy. All vehicles that shade make me think of Mom and Bubbles. Feel free to name your new car Bubbles if you like.

Tonite's supper is already made. I'm pulling out one of those pasties that I made a few weeks ago. And we'll have a salad and some green beans, too, I think. And I'm thinking of making some cinnamon rolls today, so we might even have afters!

Bon appetit`!

Good morning form a very sunny, gorgeous Sw. Pa....This is the kind of weather we've been waiting for...Gosh, darn purrrrfect!

Oh Mary, so glad to see you at the table..I thought of you all day, hoping things were "end" up with good results...To bad about the big breakfast, the same thing happened when Kathy had her test....But, now you're good for another 10-11 years..Poor Bill, sounds like he did have a rough night, lol...And what's this about baking cinnamon rolls???? The other day you made scones and now more baking...Trying to put us to shame???

Becca, I have a feeling this will be a sad day for you...But, think of all the great memories you've made with those little ones....Maybe you should hop on that plane and have them drop you at Mary's house...She's making cinnamon rolls......

Funny story...You know I go to card parties..Well, about 5:30 yesterday, my card playing friend called and said, are you ready? She said, her sister had called and reminded her of the party last night..My friend was in the middle of a dinner for her family, told them to go ahead and eat and came to pick me up...She tried to call the 4th gal and got no answer..We stopped to pick up her sister and finally, got the 4th gal on the phone, tried to convince her to meet us there and guess what, after she checked her calendar, it was the wrong week! Here we are all dressed up and no place to go, so we ended up staying at the sister's and playing Tripoly and eating her munchies....What a night and I guess I get to do it all over again next week, hopefully, we'll go to the right place....See what happens when old ladies get together? Just think had we been drinking.....

I talked to Kathy, DD, yesterday and she took another day off from work...She had her MOHs surgery on Tuesday, has about 20 stitches along the side of her nose, face is swollen and her eyes are black and blue...Said she looks like Frankenstein's daughter but was feeling pretty good...It's hard to see your kids go through something like this.....

Today is going to be, hopefully, a work in the yard day...I was out all afternoon yesterday and it felt so good, even gave my cute little rake a work out....Hoping to get Jim in the mood today....

As for dinner, those steaks still have made it to the grill so it might happen today....If not, who knows what end up on the table....

Happy eating.............

Good afternoon!

Mary--Glad everything went well. Poor DH! I always slept most of that day… lots of nocturnal exercise in preparation and lack of sleep! It seems to take a few days to feel normal afterwards.

Irish—I loved the card playing story!!! Sounds totally ME!!! I have to check and re-check dates and times and can still mess up! Better early than late—this way you get to do it again next week!

Oh, give Kathy my best! I feel for her, but at least she still has her sense of humor and is hopefully on her way to recovery!

Did you get the green car? Are looking for it??? How neat!!! I enjoyed Mary’s trip down Memory Lane with Bubbles van Astor!!! Too sweet!!! Hope you get a “Bubbles”!

Jana—I know how you feel about those big family dinners. It was nice to have everyone helping for Easter and doing a dinner rather than my doing it all for a brunch. I’m still going to do the Mother’s Day brunch as my gift to the DDILs and my DD, but am going to ask for a dinner for Father’s Day and help again.

Yesterday I baked DS1’s birthday cake, and today I got it decorated. Big party tonight! I still have to make a pan or two of cornbread… maybe one plain and one jalapeño. Dinner will be ham and beans cooked in cast iron over a fire, whatever everyone brings and lots of fun. A DJ friend brings his equipment, so there is partying and dancing. They hold the parties out in the shop—a big building with a cement floor. Should be a rockin’ good time ushering in the 50s for DS! Next year will be my DD, then the next year DS2 turning 50. Where did time go???

Enjoy!

Hello to all,Been a busy one here & Frick & Frack has been at it again.lol

Maryz Glad all is well & you must be back to normal to be so busy.

Chickie,We stopped the dinners with me doing all the cooking about 4 yrs ago.Up to then they may bring cookies or a sweet but it was all me .I got worn out so now they do the cooking.I can cook for one family but that is all.Last week I had 10 but that is unusual for me to do it all.Good you get help.Have fun at party.

Irish Your story is so funny but you get to do it all over again. That keeps you young.

We had a day of Frick & Frack here.We had 2 cedar trees that come down when we had the snow & ice. They were leaning on my nandina bush & forsythia.I had wanted it done so we did it.I was dragging off the trees when I heard CA holler help & my name I was afraid because with him you never know.I got to him as quick as possible running up hill.He had fallen & couldn't get up.The joys of getting old.I did manage to get him on his feet & he was ok.

It could have been sad if it hadn't been so busy. With mowing, cutting trees, mopping floors,I have thought of them a lot. They are still riding.Maryz They don't take the ferry. So they passed you.

It was a burger, hullies, salad for me with banned food. Becca
