SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Nov 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Nov 14, 2015 3:58 am

Good RAINY morning!

JANA - look out! This storm is a DOOZY! HEAVY rain, wind all day long, and LOTS of capital letters!! You'll probably be seeing it in a few days. We're in the second day now and counting.

The party last night was nice. Met about 6 other couples and at least half the men know my son-in-law, who is a newly-minted superintendant at the naval shipyard in Bremerton - a huge employer in our area. I liked everyone, there were a few quilters in the group, but one gal named Ann, I especially liked on sight. either she's super sweet to everyone or else she felt a connection, too. She's a professional clown! Went to Ringling Bros clown school and everything! Teaches clowning. Such an interesting gal! And she quilts! Bill says it figures, I would gravitate to the clown in the group!

BECCA - you are right - the neighbor doesn't live next door. It's a rental. I doubt the renters have any idea how dangerous that tree is. A few months ago we had a windstorm, and one of his other trees broke off and crashed down on our property, taking the fence with it. Of course, we ended up cleaning up that mess!

TINA - I hope you are feeling better today. I understand about not going to the doc unless you are a half-goner. My insurance doesn't pay for any sickness at all - only one physical exam per year, the usual labs that go with, and immunizations. Thank goodness I go on Medicare March 1st. Crossing my fingers I stay healthy until then. If your soup is too spicy for you did you try a dollop of Daisy in it? (sour cream)

CHICKIE - your potato soup sounds delish! Even with "yo Mama" in it! Can we have that next time?? puh-leeeze??

IRISH, IRISH!! - Oh I do hope you are improving! I'm going to send you a text later today. My girls and I all had strep 30 years ago and were sick for 2 weeks. 104* temps, throats afire, and just feeling like we were scared we were going to die and afraid we wouldn't. Please be well soon.

Tonite is going to be chicken and rice here, I think. DH is up and has given his approval. We have enough makings for one more salad. And peas. I love peas. Lima beans are my favorite veggie, but DH hates them, so I don't make them too often. So tonite is peas.

Happy eating! (I had to say that for Irish.)

Mary, your party sounds like it was fun :-) glad you found someone fun to chat with :-) LOL I never thought to put a little sour cream in my bowl, hmmmmmm. It was so yummy even if it was a little too spicy for me and it was very much appreciated that I didn't have to cook or clean up after. Well there's 1 bowl left so that means I'll have to cook something and Kevin went home last night. He took me to the Dr yesterday :-) but he's worried about me, I am too, this is so out of the ordinary for me. Hopefully it's just a pinched nerve and the PT will take care of it.

Hello everyone,a lazy Sat. Morn for us.

Mary z Glad you found a new friend & a clown too.I ,was afraid of them as a child. Our DGS was very afraid of them.My DH loves limas & I hate them.

Tina Sure hope you get help soon.I too hate going to a Dr.I told them Thurs they would think I was a complainer. She said I don't think so as you have blood & bacteria in your specimen. It is sure a pain to go.

Chickie I love potato soup but I am a big soup fan.DH doesn't like it as much as I do.I never tire of homemade soup.

Jana Stay safe from the storms.

DH is under the weather with diverticulitis so soup for him.I have chicken breast thinly sliced leftover.May add some rice.Ice cream for later.....Becca

Good morning,

Thanks for the heads up! We are set for the storm. It is supposed to get here on Monday. My car has a new battery, wheels aligned and new tires. Set and ready. Michael and I are heading out to get groceries in a little while as well.

Dinner - humm - I think I will play with a soup - probably my minestone with tiny little meatballs.

Later today I am stirring up a batch of bagel dough. It holds in the refrig for a couple of days and I can cook two or so at a time for my breakfast. I have spoiled myself about fresh hot bagels.

Off to fold the church bulletin for tomorrow,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon! I had lunch with Mom today (she ate while I watched). I took some turnips I'd cooked in for her. DH and I are not turnip fans, and I did my best to cook them like I thought Mom did the one time I saw them at her house. I put them in a light cream sauce. Well... true to form... I didn't do it right. BUTTER only. She did eat ALL of the little dish I heated for her with the rest of her lunch. I added more butter to the cream sauce. Then, she said, "Well, I probably added half-and-half to the butter." I think she will probably eat all of them. It wasn't a very large bowl. She can be funny.

MaryZ--Your red hair... clown... quilting... just sayin'... Hey, she recognized a fun person and kindred spirit quilter and you guys clicked! Always fun to find a new quilting pal!!! Nice to have a good time at a party with strangers... Someone said a stranger is just a friend you've never met... I think that's probably true with you! Remind me, and we will have tater soup when you come!!!

Becca—I was never afraid of clowns as a kid. I do think there are now some fearsome ones. I don’t think DH is as much a fan of soup as I am, either. He did like this potato soup, however. He also likes more with it than just soup. I could live on nothing but different soups and be totally happy and satiated.

Tina—I saw the recipes and forgot to print one off… will look again… blame it on my advanced age. How are you doing today? Sure hope you get rid of the headaches!!!

Jana—all this talk of soup… YUM!!! Oh, bagels… sigh!!!

Irish—hope you are on the mend!!!

Mary—I’ve felt that way… wishing to die, hoping I didn’t… with sinus infections—thought my face was falling off and wishing it would hurry up and do it. I went to the dentist on a Saturday afternoon emergency appointment and tried to get him to pull all my teeth for some relief. He refused and diagnosed my problem.

Well, I came home hungry from all my running around today… two stops after Mom’s… DH was hungry since it was a long time since his cereal. We had hot dogs and chips. I had mine with sauerkraut and dill pickles. So…. Dinner tonight… It was going to be taco salad, but with all the talk of soup, it may morph into taco soup. Then again, I could go taco salad tonight and turn the leftover taco meat into taco soup tomorrow night… that may be the plan…

Enjoy!
