SUPPER CLUB - Wed, April 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Apr 22, 2015 4:37 am

Good Morning!

Bob and Betsy made it out yesterday. They texted that it was raining and very windy where they are camped on the Straits of Jaun de Fuca, but they were cozy in their camper. We'll see them again in a few months in Oregon.

My massage got cancelled yesterday because the LMT is sick. Why couldn't it have been my dental appt for this morning that got cancelled!! Isn't that the way things go, though.

TINA - no, Riley's sister has never visited. Cats aren't too big on social niceties, usually. While Riley is a very fluffy calico, Dorian is short-haired gray and white, (hence the name Dorian for "the Picture of Dorian Gray"). There was one more kitty in that litter that Mike's co-worker adopted and that one was a short-hair snowshoe Himalayian. Did you know that kittens in a single litter can have different fathers?

CHICKIE - you know, the way you describe yourself, I'm thinking I'LL come kidnap you! lol!!

IRISH - my brothers were driving the farm truck and equipment at 10 yrs old, too. I guess we could have had Riley out there on the tractor before now. Lazy cat! When does Nicky come visit again? our DGS, Alec, never comes here to cook, but we do get fed when we go to their house.

BECCA - I bet your DH is excited about his new JD. It's a beauty! Do you name things? Ours is "Scout".

JANA - well? Did your grandchickens provide for you?

LADY CAROL - I hate when I lose my whole post! Sometimes hitting CTRL and Z will bring it back. Sometimes not.

I ended up lying to you yesterday. I found the last of the spaghetti that Betsy made for us in the fridge. I layered it with the sauce and some parm and heated it up. Voila'! supper! So tonite, something with the cooked chicken. I just read a recipe for chicken gumbo. I might try that. The recipe is in the back of a novel I'm reading by Laura Childs and it takes place in New Orleans. She always includes recipes in her mysteries. It might be a tasty experiment!

If you're experimenting with your supper tonite I hope it's a success!

Mary--good to hear B&B are off without more difficulty. How fun to think you will be at their house in a few weeks!

If the recipe turns out, please share!

Last evening we had asparagus quiche, and DH said it was really good. I made it crustless so we could enjoy the rest of the Cheddar Bay Biscuits. I forgot to put the ham in the quiche, so it was on the side. I think the quiche was the best I've ever made. We have enough for re-runs tonight.

I neglected to say the kidnappers might find me super cranky if I have to do too much cooking and cleaning... I am addicted to cotton and need my fix!

Happy Earth Day!

Good Morning,Nice sunny & windy. We are having our March winds in April. And our cold is lingering still.

Maryz Nice you will see B& B again soon.

CHICKIE I always enjoy reading about your happenings.Life in the Country is the best I think.Your quiche sounds wonderful & the no crust sounds even better.

Yes DH is excited about the mower. We too name things. He called to see when it would come(he has waited 2 wks) & they had taken it off of delivery today.Someone told them we were picking it up.Wow the way people work kills me.So they put it back on truck.

Leftover beans over rice here.I add a salad.DH has a pastry he picked up yesterday. He always finds sweets.Or they jump at him one.LOL Becca

Good morning,

Sarah and I are heading off to collect a check, deposit it and stop off and get some fabric! I am starting another diaper bag - this is for the mom of a activity day girl that I had last year. They are huge fans if the University of Utah - so I will find some of that fabric for this bag.

Found a chicken breast in the refrig last night and turned it into chicken cordon bleu - so now I have to figure out something for tonight. Arroz con pollo comes to mind - for those who don't speak spanish - chicken and rice. Sounds fancier in a different language! LOL

Enjoy!
Jana

This is my Earth Day present! I took the picture just minutes after the birth... much of which I got to watch through binoculars from the porch. It was a breech birth, but both mama and baby are fine. The calf has been up and finding a meal from mama.

Good late afternoon from chilly, wet, Sw. Pa...Not a very nice day but with all the wet, everything is green and very lush.....

Mary, glad to hear everything is OK with Betsy and Bob...Before you know it, you'll be together again..I'd say, it is good to be you.....Yesterday we were talking about the kids driving and then I thought, heck, I was driving that old pick up before I was 12...It had the shift on the floor and we used it sometimes in the field to pick up hay and I got to drive it...I have a feeling my Dad had to remind me often about those sudden starts..I can still see those bales of hay come tumbling off the back end...Oh the fun!

Chickie, just last night Kathy was telling me about the asparagus and ham quiche she had made and how good it was...I have never made a quiche, just eaten them, so one of these days, Jim is in for a treat.....

You'll all laugh at this one...I was just on the eagle site from Ft. Myers and the "baby" has been flying and just today, brought in a part of an armadillo..This is the 1st time, it's ever brought back food and it was quite funny, watching him struggle to get it to the nest...I've loved watching these birds and feel sad to think, they will fly off and we'll never see them again but happy to know, they'll be soring high and free....

And now for our dinner...Armadillo didn't look or sound too appetizing so that's not on the menu but I'm thinking, tonight might be the scrambler....Could make a chicken pot pie but don't feel like messing with dough...Scrambler would be easier.....

Happy eating...............

Good Evening All......still nice.....still chilly wind.....but.....we have been told...on good authority ( the telly weatherman)it will be all change come the week end.....and not for the better.....

Today...I had a doctors appointment(early)and I am so not an early morning person...."they" are still trying to work out why I have this wretched persistent cough....so...we decided to go into town straight from the surgery.....gets to the surgery ok.....the blessed car refuses to start when we get back to the car park.....so....Sirs car is in the garage for its yearly check up....and has to have an operation under its bonnet.....luckily....the garage is within spitting distance......so I go off to get the bus to town......and Sir goes walkabout to get assistance from the garage doctor.....not an auspicious start to our day.....and it gets better....the girl in the library tells me I have a book due back today....a book I didn't even know I had.....on Quilting......when I get home I spend all afternoon tearing my sewing room apart looking for it.....eventually find it.....slapped my wrist.....but now have a sewing room that needs lots of attention......so I am going to have an early night.....and pull the covers over my head......and I still haven't started on my zipper pouch yet.....think I might have to let that one float for a while......

todays menu......Smoked Ham Salad with Spiced Wedges......Carrot Cake and Coffee for afters.....

Carol
ps.....I now have to make an appointment at the hospital and see a Throat specialist......hoping tomorrow is a better day......

Well I'm a little late to the table but I'm here :-) We worked outside last night till almost 8, we both hated to go inside but Frankie needed a shower and I had to get supper going on the grill and after supper I took a nice long soak in the tub, I mowed the front and back yard :-) Right now we, Easton and me are sitting outside on the grass under my big mulberry tree with Fiona, Duncan, Rosie and Missy while I water my trees out front :-)
I have beef ribs thawing for supper tonight not sure what will be eating with them besides salad.
Mary, yeppers I did know that about kitties, same with dogs too. I like the name Dorian :-) funny all girls in that litter.
