Credit Card WARNING

Post by WeeOne » Sun Feb 01, 2015 6:11 am

I posted in Sew In a couple days ago that we were hit with credit card fraud. We hadn't used it much in the last week, so not hard to think back where we used it. Had gone out to dinner, twice. One place the owner took card. He has a good, busy, place so I don't think he would steal info. The other place, the waiter, who was a new guy, took our card to run. We think he took our info. This happened to us a few years back and we know it was the waitress. For a long time we walked our card to the machine with staff. Need to do again!!

I'm in Texas, my oldest DD in Colorado. She called me last night to say that her guy had his card hit, too. His is a Debit card and she found a charge for Macy's, he never goes to Macy's. DD says he, too, feels a waitress took his info.

Phones all have cameras, so easy for thief to photo both sides of your card, then sell info.

Please don't let your card out of your site! It's a pain in the butt to have to call people you have that do auto pay on card. GGRRRRRR

Lyn, so sorry to hear you're having these problems...You've posted good advice..I meet a gal friend for lunch and she always gives the card to the waitress when paying her bill and so far, she's been very lucky..I had always been very trusting but any more, you really do have to be on guard....Just the other day, I had a call from my DD, Kathy, in Reno...Said, she woke up to a text message about her card or her DH's card being used in N. Carolina...Not a good way to wake up but was so glad they were on top of it and was able to put a stop to the spending spree....

Thanks Lyn for reminding everyone not to let your cards out of your hands.

A few years back, we had our card swiped by a restaurant worker too. Since then, we when go out to dinner, it is cash.

Just the other month or so, our card was swiped again - now I purchase one of those prepaid cards to use for online purchases. The cards are not that expensive to purchase and I only put small amounts and they are protected as well. I plan ahead for purchases on the internet. My local grocery store has them, so I don't have to go far to purchase one.

Watch gas stations as well - the crooks will add a device to the regular card reader - watch for something that may be different.
