SUPPER CLUB - Fri, jan 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 09, 2015 1:36 am

Good Morning!

We're still cold by the thermometer, but at 36* it feels balmy compared to yesterday! I'll take it!

ABITA - I ate my share of fish growning up, hating the taste of it with every bite. But we ate what was put in front of us. Now, I don't have to. Only one person in my large family likes seafood. But that leaves more for you!

VEL - Yes, our time is growing short - only 2 more sleeps! I'm excited to hit the road!

JOYCE - chix & dumplings sounds good to me!

BECCA - I rode an hour to the restaurant so the OTHERS could eat catf--h. I never said I was going to eat it! I had chicken fingers and fries. They were good - but twice enough for a meal, so I brought half of it home.

JANA - good call on those icy roads to Logan!

CHICKIE - your tortellini cooked either way sounds good to me! Also the dumplings. Yum!

IRISH - you have one smartie-cat to lick away a window to peer out! As to the food being good enough to drive an hour each way to the restaurant - let's just say, if you put enough breading on anything and deep fry it, it's probably going to taste good! I love breading and grease! and it loves me. It won't go way, stays with me forever! EVen the pickles were breaded and deepfried! Ya gotta love Texas cooking! lol!

So - tonite for supper, I'll be having (and probably sharing) my leftover breaded and deep-fried chicken strips, fries, and pickles! I do have stuff to make a salad and won't that taste good!! When we get home, we are definitely going back to a healthier way of eating.

Bon appetit`!

Good Morning everyone,Cold still but sun is shining.

MARYz Cannot believe a fried pickle.Have heard of them.Haven't eaten anything fried in years so it would be hard to take.I knew you would not eat f--h.They generally have other things for those who do not eat seafood.I donot care for it at all.And all my family love it.

JOYCE Do you make drop or rolled dumplings? I make the rolled kind.Love them & all my family does too.One of my fav meals.

Know you are anxious to hit the road MARYz.I would be too.My DB & his wife are full time RVers .They have a big motor Home but I still want some roots.

I have some soup left. Also plan to make DH a burger & creamed potatos.Comfort food.....Becca

Well, I was too tired after being out in the cold to do dumplings last night, so that is the plan for tonight. Becca, I make rolled dumplings, have never tried drop ones......sometimes when my Mom was in a hurry, she used those big wide egg noodles and cream of chicken soup......it was still pretty good.....

I usually get two meals from one, though we always eat all the dumplings and I have to make more, lol.

Good late morning from bitter, bitter cold, Sw. Pa...And anyone who says they don't mind the cold have to be very sick!

Mary, I agree about the breaded and deep fried, my kind of food, unfortunately....I used to think, while I'm in Florida, I'll walk, I'll eat healthy and come back in better shape, WRONG! The only walking we would do would be from car to the door of the buffet...And in N. Ft. Myers, I swear you could eat at a different place every night for at least 6 months and never hit the same place twice.. That and bingo places...Those people down there know how to live!

I'm not sure what might appear on our table tonight...I think most of the left overs are gone or have turned green, lol....Could be new food tonight, maybe chicken ala king...Good winter time food....And I really should be baking pies.. As part of Dan's (DGS) Christmas gift, I would make him a monthy goodie and he loves pumpkin pie...I have a feeling, it would make Jim happy, also......

Happy eating................

Good afternoon! I forgot I hadn’t stopped in here today. I think dinner will be more of the same from last night. I really enjoyed my soup and will make up some more. DH likes his beef, and I have another piece, so that’s what will be on the menu here.

Mary—so you chickened out (literally) on the menu last night. Those fried pickles are fun and delicious. We made them at one of the f**h fries. You should go to the Texas state fair—they are renowned for what they can fry.

Irish—too funny about your kitty and the window! I’m glad he didn’t get his tongue stuck to the glass. Are you going south this year? You would make my DH very happy with your baked goods! He would leave me for you in a flash if you waved pie, cake, cookies, dessert in front of him.

Joyce—dumplings of all kinds sound delicious! I had no idea you fed four times a day! What a job!!! You have lucky horses.

Becca—you really missed out on yum when you missed the fried pickles. I hope the vinegar in the pickles counteracts the effects of the grease. I really try to eat “right” most of the time… that “most” allows for a fried pickle once a year or so.

Enjoy!

For the sake of Mary Z I guess I should say mac n cheese chowder LOL, but for the rest of you I am having seafood chowder and corn bread for dinner and it can't come soon enough for me.
