SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, July 31st
Good Morning!
the last day of July! We are already feeling and hearing a crispness in the air in early morning. But our days are still warm.
Leftovers - I toss them after 4 days. Or if they are growing green fur -whichever comes first. A few things go sooner and a few things get another day's reprieve, but rule of thumb here is 4 days.
And I like that title - Queen of Leftovers. It's better than my last title when I used to work at evening charge nurse in a nursing home. There I was Queen of Suppositories. I feel like I've just been promoted!
BECCA - you'll have your kids home before you know it! I was thinking this morning - you have family living close to me and I have family living close to you.
I have no idea what to make for supper tonite. Maybe those sloppy joes - who had them yesterday? or pasties. We do like pasties. Also, I haven't made homemade pizza for a while. Bill might like spaghetti, too. I have to think on this for a bit.

Good morning,
Sarah made me correct our leftover - 6 days, and then it is out.
Dinner here will be my baked chicken thighs. Boneless, skinless, that I dip in italian bread crumbs that I doctor with additional garlic powder, onion powder and parmesan cheese. Salad will go with it too.
Enjoy, the dog days of summer are fast departing!

Good early afternoon from sunny but still (for me) chilly...It is going to 78 today so maybe we'll get back into summer in a day or so....It is hard to believe this is the end of July...Wonder if the winter months will fly by as quickly.....
I think I'm a member of your club, Mary...There are days when I really don't have a clue but some how we do manage to eat...Yesterday, Nick and I did some shopping...He is so much fun to run around with....And then on the way home, we stopped at KFC and brought home lots of goodies...
.
In fact, today might be that "mustgo" day....We do have leftover KFC and I'm sure there is other "non green" stuff in the frig that should be eaten...Of course with Nick here, there's not too many leftovers, especially mashed potatoes....As Nick said, "You know Gram, they go with everything, even pizza".....
I might even bake a couple of loaves of zucchini bread (1 without raisins) for afters.....
Whatever you guys come up with, I'm sure it will be delish!
Happy eating...............

Good Morning to everyone,
Wow I thought 2 days was max on leftovers unless it is soup.Especially if mayo is involved.I am funny when it comes to food especially meat.Do not want it sitting out long.My DS after his Dwife died I thought he would kill them all the way he left meat out.But no one ever got sick.
It was us who had sloppy Joes.Thought the young man weeding would eat a lot but he is thin.Had leftovers.
But not today It was errand day so good ole Subway.
MARYz Wish we could switch relatives & make them close.Keith called today. He was telling Papa about all the berries you have out there.Said your black berries are a lot bigger than ours.Would love to pick them. They were going blueberry picking today.YUM.
Have a good one what ever you eat...Becca

Hi Everyone!
As someone who has worked in a restaurant, I use food 4 days or two heat ups. Also follow the rule of if in doubt, throw it out!
Tonight will be chicken, potatoes a vegetable and salad.

Carol--I agree with the "two warm ups". Mom worked in food service all her life, and my Grandma worked in restaurants and school cafeteria.
Left-overs here, too. I brought chicken back with me last night. Dropped a dinner off to Mom along with the fabrics she wanted. DH and I both had some of our dinners left, and that's the menu this evening along with fresh watermelon from the patch.
Becca--usually it's not the mayo that is the culprit in potato salad; it's the potatoes as the mayo has enough vinegar in it that it doesn't cause the spoilage. Of course, fresh mayo has eggs; but commercial mayo is pasteurized. The starchy foods are almost the same medium found in petri dishes in a laboratory. At least that's what I learned in school. Baked potatoes should not be refrigerated in the foil wrapper for the same reason.
Have a great evening! Sorry I am late. Blame my floors--I swept, vacuumed, scrubbed and waxed them. Then I didn't like the lack of shine, so I waxed again with a different wax. I liked it, but at that point anything would have looked good!
