supper club, July 30th, Hump Day!

Post by Irishgram » Wed Jul 30, 2014 5:41 am

Good morning from almost sunny, but still chilly, SW. Pa...Would you believe, I'm sitting here with a sweat shirt, jeans and shoes and socks on?????Thought I was going to have to get out my flannel jammies last night......

Hey, where is everyone????Here it is almost lunch time....Hope Mary didn't get lost or encountered a bear while picking those blackberries....I'm thinking blackberry cobbler, what do you think?

Well, half my crew left for N.C. yesterday and I'm not liking it.....I hate to think about Nicky leaving....Just as they were about to leave yesteray, with all the hugs etc., Nicky went over to his brother, stuck out his hand and wished him a safe trip...Oh my, these kids are growing up.....

Our dinner last night was delish!Of course, Nick had to have mashed spuds instead of noodles and at 10:00 last night guess who I found in the kitchen eating a bowl of mashed spuds and having a nice big serving of cherry cobbler/with vanilla ice cream????Not sure if there's enough left overs for another meal but DIL brought home some pizza from her lunch...

I plan on doing some shopping today and hopefully Nick will want to go somewhere (he even mentioned JoAnns)....Maybe he and I can have lunch out...And I'm hoping we'll come up with something for dinner....You know, it's hard on this old brain to come up with all these meals.....But, for sure, we won't go hungry.....

So, what's being planned for your table????

Happy eating............

Here I am! No bears today. And not many berries either. Just enough to eat a few as we pass by. Maybe next week will be more fruitful. In one of our best "picking holes" someone drove heavy machinery through and wrecked the berries. MEN!! no regard for anything but themselves and their toys.

I just boiled up 6 eggs, peeled the, and dropped them into my dill pickle juice as the pickles are now gone. In a few days they'll be yummy snacks!

We have bacon that needs eating up so I think bacon and eggs are on the menu tonite with leftover rice fried up with some onion and peppers. My, I'm starting to get hungry just typing about it!

Irish, you're getting our cool weather..one day later. We usually look to St. Louis for our weather. And your family visiting reminds me of when my son was in the military and he, his wife and Ashley would stay with us for a couple of weeks...chaos and slightly hectic while they were here, but so QUIET when they left...it always took a few days for me to adjust.

Maryz, I'll ask you this question, since I consider you the "queen of leftovers"...lol...but anyone else can help with this, too! How long do you keep leftovers before you pitch them????

I think we will have leftover speghetti and Kabalsa sausage tonight...maybe!

The Reds beat Arizona last night and they are playing a day game today..so far, 0 to 0.

Good afternoon,

Just came home from the grocery store - this one has great produce - lots of Mexican peppers, so all the fixins for tortilla soup ended up in the basket - DH went with me!

Leftovers - rule of thumb here - needs to be eaten with in 7 days or out they go. And promptly refrigerated too. If left out, especially overnight - pitched immediately. Any thing with mayo, left out for more than a short time, is pitched. With Sarah's major in food nutrition, she has taught me to be a stickler with foods. We rarely get sick with her rules.

So there are our house rules.

Enjoy,
Jana
