Good morning Jules and all who follow. I will be at work today. I have two more rows to add and the DWR quilt top will be together and ready for sandwiching and quilting. Thought I would be able to get it finished over the weekend, but I took a nap after church yesterday instead of sewing.
Jules hopefully the ughlies will go by quickly and you will still have some time to sew.
Everyone have a safe end to your labor day weekend. Be blessed beyond measure.

Good morning Mary, Jules and those who will follow.
I can't believe it! I got to sleep in this morning. Yesterday I managed to finish piecing the top of the pinwheel quilt. Now all that needs to be done is the border and sew the binding together. I already have my next project ready. I am making the QIAD Braid quilt. It is a wedding present for my nephew. They are getting married in early December. This one will be quilted by the long arm quilter. Or as some people call it QBC ( quilt by check). Well, off to find something for breakfast and get out to my studio.

Happy Labor Day. We are thinking fall up here in northern Michigan, There is a tradition here where hundreds maybe even thousands walk the Mackinaw Bridge. It is usually led by the Governor of Michigan,,,it was to honor all the laborers who built the bridge and keep Michigan moving....now it is a tradition, We do not walk the 6 aand a half miles across the bridge. But I had a cousin who walked it till she was in her 90s. Ken's Dad was a welder who helped build the "Mighty Mac". Ken lived up here for a few years while it was being build. He considers himself a "Yooper", just like Maryz's Bill. Back then (the 50s) He lived on the upper penninsula and the only way down was the Ferry. We really love our bridge. Folks who live in Michigans upper penninsula call us "Lower's" ...Trolls. We call them "Yooper's So it is fun to be up here anyway.
I have been making hexxies the only project I brought here,,.moving right along on it.
Well what ever you plan today make it a good XXXOOO Judi

Good morning!
Jules - laundry - yuck! Hope there's not much to wash.
Mary/Rose - sounds like you really needed some rest yesterday. I hope work today isn't too crazy.
Suzette - another quilt down! I have the fabric and the pattern to make the QUIAD braid also - maybe that will be my next project.
Judi - what a neat tradition! How cool that your cousin could walk it for so long. Have fun with your hexies.
Katya and Denis (DS1's wife and son) got home last night around 11. YAY! Today is more of the same for me. We close in 25 days. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

Happy Labor Day! I hope no one is laboring too hard!
JULES - sounds like you are! Laboring too hard, that is . . . Hope you get a moment to sit and relax, preferably in front of your sewing machine.
JUDI - I'll give my little Yooper your howdies! We've traveled that bridge (NOT on foot!) and I have to say it is impressive! Enjoy your day!
MARY R - I just can't believe how quickly you've gotten that DWR together! I bet it's a beauty! Every time I read about your quilt, I reconfirm my vow to make one some day.
SUZ - congratulations on finishing your quilt! I'm always curious to see what's next up on your list. You can really crank them out. Having a job hasn't seemed to slow you down much at all! I think the braid will be beautiful! What color scheme will you be using?
SHARONA - I guess more of the same for you means packing. It must be so exciting at your house!
I tossed and turned all night and then an animal's cry woke me for good. I finally got up at 4:30. Today's big plan is hanging with Mr. Maytag. But "Stitch" and I may get a little one-on-one, too. Oh, and I just remembered, DH and I are washing windows today. Guess we're really celebrating Labor Day! lol!
Have a safe holiday!

MaryZ - the braid quilt is going to be in dark blue, tan batiks. I have forgotten the name of the collection. I am using a jelly roll. I have made one braid before this one. It was right after the directions were released.

Re: Monday 2nd September
Good morning! This has been a busy weekend! Watering, weeding, laundry, cooking… I hope to relax a bit today but need to get some groceries. Saturday after coffee with my friend and a visit with my Mom, I went to Pittsburg to the Little Balkans Quilt Guild’s show. They didn’t seem to have as many quilts this year, but some were really lovely. And, they had vendors… my DD found lots of things for me to make for her, and I spent my month’s fabric budget and a little more. Wait ‘til DH gets the credit card statement… It was a fun day! I brought back the famous fried chicken, so DH was happy and I didn’t have to cook when I returned. Last night was the community fire fighters’ street dance and dinner—always yummy and fun!
Somewhere along the way Friday and yesterday I managed to put together a charm pack baby quilt and got it quilted very simply. It’s for my DGD’s teacher’s first baby. I had a pack of “Baby Geniuses grow up” and a yard of focus fabric for the backing. It’s a VERY colorful quilt. I need to snip my threads and put a binding on it… hopefully today.
Suzette—I still want to make a braid quilt! I love your color combination!
MaryZ—I believe Labor Day is really “cease from your labors day” in honor of all the labor you have accomplished the past year… I have some windows that need a cleansing… I will ignore mine today. I'm so excited that the puppy is coming your way soon!!!
Have a great day, All!!!

Well, so much for sewing today. It seems that the main plumbing line to our house is having trouble. My son was washing his clothes and all of a sudden the water bubbled up through the toilet and bathtub. Thank goodness for our power company. They have service agreements for plumbing, sewer, electric. And I have everyone of them. My mother was a huge believer in service contracts. So, I guess I have a lot of my mom in me.
