July, 19 Friday

Post by KATHYSQUILTS » Thu Jul 18, 2013 9:24 pm

Good Morning....

It's 3am & hot. Can't sleep with 2 fans going so I got up for a can of club soda.. ..refreshing! Two more days & this heat wave is over!
I never tried the flying geese ruler yesterday, just didn't feel like it. Today I'll run some errands like the PO, bank & town taxes & maybe a trip to the LQS.

Well I think I'll take one more walk around the house & head off to bed.

See you all in the morning......Kathy

Hi, Kathy, I'm not sleeping either. I'm drinking "Soothing Caramel Bedtime Tea". We'll just see how soothing it is in a few minutes. Is that El's Flying Geese ruler you're talking about? I've got all the different sizes and usually use them to make my geese. Hope we both can get back to sleep!

Good morning. Todays temps are suppose to be at 87 here in Farmington. Yesterday I fell asleep at 4:30 in the afternoon and was out for the night. Kathy and Maryz, you were just heading back to bed when I was waking up.

Kathy-I've been looking for some flying geese rulers, but haven't purchased any yet. One of these days...

Maryz-Hopefully the tea will help put you to sleep for a bit. Maybe I won't be getting that second job after all. All the applications that I have picked up/filled out require being able to pick up a minimum of 50 pounds. I am unable to lift that much any more, so we will see.

Since I am up an hour and a half earlier than normal I think I'll go visit the sewing room for a few minutes before having to leave for work. TTYL

Good Morning Everyone,

Well today the GKids will be leaving early afternoon my how the time flew this week.

The reason they are leaving today is because my DGD wants to go to the pool dance with all her friends she will be 14 in sept they have these get togethers at a pool not to far from the house and ages of middle school kids are only aloud in.

So this afternoon once again my house will be quiet again not that they have been bad my DGS will be 11 at the end of jan he had 3 reading books for the summer he is on his last book .

Well I hope Mary and Kathy got back to sleep.

Mary R I hope you got a little sew time before work.

Oh we did get to the movies and it was cute there weren't that many people in there maybe they made it for the matanie.

Well I Hope Everyone Has A Great Day.

Good morning everyone.
It is 5:30 here and it is miserable. I have to go to the dr for my yearly female check up this morning. Thank goodness it is early. I went by a pool yes today coming home from work and nobody was in the pool. The owner of my LQS posted a teaser picture on Facebook of the Christmas fabrics for tomorrow's Christmas in July sale. Can't wait! Today after hubby heads off to work I am going to work on the boat shade and hopefully get it done today. And then get back to the Quits of Honor quilt. I wanted to tell you guys about a wonderful product for this hot weather. It is facial towelettes. They are wonderful. The brand is called Yes to Cucumbers. They are sold where the facial products are in your local drug store. They cool your face and you feel better.

Cindy I had it a few years. I iron something almost every day.

Mel, I hate when I wake up thinking I overslept. Hope you were able to get the blocks finished

Gabriele you may not go off to work, but you do plenty around the house I’m sure.

Jana, I wish we could have basements in SoCal. I would love the extra room. We have one in our house in Illinois.

Sharona, I bought a Black and Decker at Tuesday Morning for $20.00 Couldn’t find the Rowetta I wanted. Funny thing is I gave 2 irons away last year because they just sat in the closet for years.

Maryz the shut off feature is a must. I sometimes forget to unplug. Hope you get some sleep

Maryq I hate working OT. I did it for years and burned out. Hope you don’t wear yourself out.

Chriss sounds like you’ve got lots to do on your vacation. I have a few rooms that need painting if you run out of things to do. Lol

Lois I didn’t see the 1st one, but saw the 2nd one with my grandkids last week. It was a cute little story

Suzette what colors are you making your Contrary Wife blocks?

Mary/Rosebud hope you get some sleep too.

I made some crazy 8 blocks for guild. Very simple. I also started a 9 patch snowball block in 1800's fabric. I saw it in a book and really like the look of it.

Well I'm off to watch a little TV before bed. Hope you all stay cool today.

You all are up early!

I got up and went out to let the chicken out. They weren't ready to get up yet :-) They usually come running down the ramp and this morning no one came down. They're ok just lazy today I guess.

My Flatware came yesterday :-) I'm so happy all matching, two sets so I have a 16 place setting. Very plain, like me :-) but very nice. http://www.amazon.com/Oneida-Mooncrest- ... =Mooncrest I'll wash it all today and put it away.

I'll also wash my 12 yards of black Kona fabric I bought yesterday for the sew along. I almost told Emily what it was for but she didn't ask and I really think she's going to have something to say about it. I could always remind her of the Carpenter Star she started three years ago that doesn't have borders yet....But of course she hasn't started any other project either.

Ok, I guess I need to do my 2 miles before the heat gets too bad.

Have a great day.
Look to the hills! (Psalms 121)

5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

I need to remember this today when it's 90 degrees out!

Good Morning all It is hot and muggy here may cool down by sunday, Ken is going out with his buddy to the movies, They go to the senior morning for like 4 bucks. it is a syfy I won't sit through. so I will head to the grocery store and get supplies for my kiddos. I turned the AC down this morning for a few minutes and will head downstairs to feed the kitty and get coffee. it should be cooler by the time I get back here, I got 3 DR blocks appliqued last night,,,9 to go then all the flowers and vines, this will be lots of leaves like Vicky's . i wont get more done till Sunday, tomorrow is grandkids all day til Sunday morning, I have a purse order to do...and I bought a pretty fabric for the inside of the purse cut the whole piece the wrong size,,,,not enough to redo it, I need to go back to the LQS today and get more...she had a whole bolt pray it is still there, I feel so stupid when I do that, It is the Margo bag with the dreaded zipper. Well time to get coffee...hope you all have a great day. Hugs to all who suffer from the heat,,,,please look into the neck coolers, tubes filled with those watering pellets for plants, they hold water in the soil. fill the tube with them and sew closed....wet it and drape it across the back of your neck. Stays cold for hours. I know there are directions for them somewhere on the net,,,,,Ken had some he used while golfing years ago. I know you can buy the pellets at the garden stores. Will see if I can find them...XXXOOO

good morning... as of 3:30 this afternoon I am on vacation.. it's good to be me....

after work I stop by my aunts to get my hair cut.. I am looking pretty shaggy... then home..

Marilyn and Jerry will add a second coat to Marilyn's very bright walls... and tomorrow they want to paint the ceiling...it is bright...

Saturday Marilyn and I are going to hit the thrift stores looking for a dresser for her.. she needs something small and teenagerish...

I plan to finish my Christmas swap blocks this week and get started on the calendar swap before vacation...My calendar blocks are applique so maybe I can take them with me as see if I get anything done...

Velda, glad you're home.. and full of memories.. sounds like a great reunion / anniversary..

Cindy, you're getting back to normal.. hope Vicky is too.. glad you are picking out quilt classes, she is blessed to have you.

Maryz.. our costco only had cork flooring.. I really am loving the wood laminate.. and Jerry can pop it together too...how was the bbq chicken pizza?

Scrappy Pat.. the hard part in painting for us is clearing out the room.. we have so much stuff.. way too much.. and we don't throw it away because.... well just because I guess....sounds like even though you didn't get any fabric you did get some cool things...

Karlene, I am not a spider fan either... I think it would be fun to collect dishes.. they really are so pretty.

Carole, sounds like a nice way to travel.. getting to stop and see family... hope you have fun.

Cindyg.. are you looking for backing fabric? CT has theirs 30% off right now.

Sharona, wow.. 10 days of granddaughter fun.. and your reward.. a painted sewing room.. I love red... Jerry seems to think that the carpeting in this house is what is contributing to our allergies.. and if it gets me laminate flooring I will agree with him... glad the van thing worked out for you and for your son...

Gabriele.. My husband is a stay at home mom too... I work and he stays home with the chores.. hope your headache went away, they can be awful... how old are your kids.

Jana, glad you found your furniture, it really sounds pretty.. and lucky you.. a Schwanns card and a sno cone maker.. win win...

Tina... why is it that we can't get electronics to work but our son's can whip them into submission in minutes? Christmas ornaments sounds like fun...hope you had a fun girls day.

Mel, the cabin swap seems like it goes on and on... it is so hard as a hostess to come up with a timeline for a swap... I wish I knew the perfect timing...hope you're less blah today...

Chickie.. wonder if the guys would have tried the jam if DH would have double dog dared them???

Kathy, I love my geese rulers.. although I don't make geese often... I need to get back into the sewing routine.. I haven't been as ambitious and am more slug like than ever it seems...

O'Dorothy, your yesterday sounds wonderful...I just love the peace of the mountains.. and to have a retreat there is very cool.. I bet your friend loves to get away....I think Jim doesn't want to get rid of the carpet because he likes to vacuume... hope your thinking about painting moves on to actual painting.

Kathy, hope you got some sleep...

Maryz.. you too?

MaryRose.. wonder if you could make quilts and sell them on ebay or one of those places for extra $$?

Lois.. you have had a great week with the kids.. glad you all had fun.

Suzette, the face towels sound very refreshing...

Vicky.. great flatware.. and happy black fabric day to you.. it's going to be a great quilt.

Judi, have a fun day.. I am not a syfy fan either...

and it's time to go to work.. should be an easy day.. then my hair gets cut and I get to come home... woo hoo....

you all have a groovy day,
Chriss

My headache is gone and the sun is out.....yeah....hope it will be warmer today.
How is everybody doing. I showed my Elfes to a cousin yesterday and he took them to show them around. I am curious to see what happens. I am working on more today.
Have a geat day ladies and happy Friday

Gabriele

Chris - my headache finally went away late yesterday. My kids are 25, 23,20 and 19. Only the 19 year old is still with me. All my other kids have there own life, they only come to visit. Do you work on a project right now?
