Hi Ladies,
I have received several fat quarters over the past year, and I was wondering, do you wash yours before using them, and how do you do it without them fraying badly? I was thinking about zig-zagging around them before washing, but how do you do it?
Thanks.

I usually put them in a mesh laundry bag and wash them that way..

if you have one of those salad spiners they work pretty well. just wash by hand sloshing them up and down in the water. then rinse. and lay out on a towel and roll up to remove excess water. you can hang or just lay flat to dry. when just damp i like to starch and press

I throw them in the wash and let the threads fall where they may!

Sometimes I wash fat quarters to see if they run! I think some time it depends on the quality of the fat quarter

Funny story on my washing of the fat quarters, at least I think it was funny....I had them all laying on my washer, I was going to try to find my mesh laundry bags, and my DD called me at work, to see if she could run by the house to do a couple loads of laundry, her washer was broke....she did them for me, just dumped them in....she said that they didn't fray too badly, so they are washed, and ready to use !! And I didn't even have to do them!

I wash FQs on the gentle or hand wash cycle with intermittent agitation or low agitation, then dry as usual. Hardly any fraying.

I wash mine on a Delicate/Handwash cycle and put in the dryer. I've had no problem with this method.
