Is there a video for the Tossed Nine-Patch pattern? I sure hope so. I think the videos make the patterns so much easier. El explains things in a way that makes it easy for me to understand.

Thanks and may sunshine fill your soul!

I'm sure about a video but you just make any size 9 patch. Then cut it up the middle and across. If you use the same square in the middle of all your 9Ps, it creates a design. HTHs, Amie

I sent you a PM about this pattern. Here is the way you might want to lay out your patches (they can be any size). A few things to think about.

1. The 4 corner patches will not be cut, so can be a nice print/focal fabric.

2. The middle square will be an accent square through out your quilt.

3. The #2, 4, 6 & 8 squares will be borders for the focal/print so should blend a bit (this is where the little black pieces are). Of course if you like scrappy, then just put them down anywhere and go for it. They both will look very nice when done.

Have fun!

Thank you. That is great information. I am trying to decide on fabric so after that happens I will begin.

Thanks again,

I agree that the videos make the quilts so much easier, but I just finished the tossed nine patch, and I can't wait to make another one. It was my first big quilt and I am so happy with how it turned out. The pattern is very easy to follow, have a great time!

I have found the middle square to be the most important to have the same fabric all the way through. Really brings the quilt together. Great way to use up spare squares for the rest. You can do any size as well.

My sister did this quilt in pinks, blacks and white prints. She used whites for the center square, all different prints. It is scrappy and turned out beautiful. She gave it to our neice Kylie for her high school graduation present. I don't like pink, but I loved this quilt. I even went out and bought pink fabric, and that is saying something for someone who does not like pink. She made her squares 6 1/2", goes together really fast.

This is such a great pattern. I've made 3 of them! I wasn't even too concerned about the center being the same color for one, and that turned out fine, too. For that one, I kept the center a pale pastel (pink, yellow, blue or green). That was for a 5 year old girl, and it's really pretty.

Just go for it. You can make 2 or 4 blocks, cut them up and decide if you like the way the colors come together before you make a bunch more.

Have fun!
