Dresden Plate

I am really enjoying making the Dresden Plate quilt from the Egg Money quilts book. But I have a question - I am not sure if I should edge the circle in the middle as well as the points with a machine "binding" stitch in a color or use the invisable thread. I want it to look "scrappy" and was thinking about using the clear thread for quilting.
Any suggestions ???
Thanks

Hi Georgia!! Welcome, I don't remember seeing you post before.
Blame it on a senior moment or lack of sleep from all of the storms-I am not sure I am understanding what you mean by "binding" stitch.
However, if you are looking for an old fashioned look for the quilt(Dresen plate is one of my favorites too) use black thread with a "blanket" stitch. I am currently working on one and just used purple to match the fabrics and stithed around the very edges. I am now trying to decide if I want to "undo" all of it and use the blanket stitch instead. LOL
Whatever you decide, it will be beautiful. There are no quilt police here, and remember quilting is an art form. So if you're happy with it, that's all that's important!!
Where is Commerce City, compared to Hugo? Hugs, and have a great day sewing!!

I am cutting fabric now for this pattern. I have always wanted to make one, but never have - so now is the time. I am using a pattern out of another book where the edges of the plates are rounded. I have seen them coming to a point and wold rather have the rounded ones. I am using scrappy material from my stash and have forgotten the joy of using plain scissors to cut fabric. Time consuming - yes, but I enjoy the patience and focus required to complete the task.
