I'm not sure about QIAD, but Clotilde has a very nice pattern for the Carpender Star. Pam

The QIAD Underground Railroad book has this block included. I believe it is a 12 1/2" block.

You must have been reading my mind! I am soooooo wanting to make this too. After seeing all the pretty ones in the Photos section,I went digging! Google style!
www.quiltfrog.com has a free lapsize Carpenter's Star and I found one on
www.quilterscache.com too.
PS- Quilt Frog calls it the 4 hour quilt, scroll down the left side and you'll see it.

What is a great pattern for black and whites? My daughter just bought her firt home and the living room kitchen are all in black and white so I want to make her a quilt. I have fabric that I have made her some designer throw pillows (6) and want to incorporate the same fabrics. I am just a beginner that is now hooked on quilting and can't do anything too hard yet. I've done rail fences and 9 patch.

Are you talking about Carpenter's STAR or Carpenter's WHEEL? I've noticed that a few folks use them interchangably, but I do think they are two different and very distinct patterns.
