What is the term 'Birthing a Quilt' mean? I'm very NEW to quilting, just wanting to get started.

Sandy,
I have watched Eleanor Burns videos when she uses the term "Birthing a quilt" She sews around three sides completely with right sides togethre and partially on the fourth side, leaving an opening for turning, then she turns the quilt inside out. The quilt is then tied, rather than quilted and the opening sewn together.

Hope that helps!
Carol

There is a video tutorial on birthing a quilt--I'll look through my quilting notes to see if I can find it, but someone else may get it before I do and post the link. The process is just like Carol said, the tutorial gives a "picture" of it.
