Puckers in Quilt top

Post by girl » Wed Oct 21, 2009 2:16 am

I have puckers in my quilt with me using a walking foot. Help! First time using a walking foot and I'm trying to take my time. I'm using warm and natural batting. Could that be the problem. I riped out the stitches along the borders. New sewing machine.

Did you use pins to put it together? If so you need to pin out from the middle and keep smoothing out the quilt as you go along, also give the backing a little tug every now and then.

Thank you for the advise. Yes I pinned it but, not from the center out. I'm use to hand quilting and that could of been my problem.

Flystitch has great advice also make sure you aren't pushing the top through..it's hard to remember but only use your hands as a guide... it's so easy to push the top along a little...

Long stitch length, like a 3-3.5.
Slow down, place hands on both side of foot, gently pulling out to keep quilt flat. Amie
