Hello everyone! I have a situation that I need help from all QIAD members. My mother has been looking for a table cloth for St Patrick's day for a long time. The problem is that she wants it in a size that you cannot find in any store. So I decided to make her one with the runner and the place mats. Unfortunately I have no clue how to start this project. I know I might have to do some applique's for the shamrocks but I don't quite know how to do the table cloth "quilt" with the shamrocks. I need to find a "Shamrock" applique, which I am having trouble finding. I need help with the "WHOLE" quilting idea. Please any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Someone was asking about shamrock patterns a week or two ago. Was that you? If not, there is a thread here already about that. Ideas might be to use hearts, a more readily available pattern, soften the cleft in the heart, and put three together to make a shamrock. You could freehand the stem easily enough. Or look for a pattern in a kids color book.
However, I googled shamrock quilt patterns and there are some great ones! One is a simple pieced pattern at
www.quiltingworks.com/howto/shamrock-block.htm
and another is a cute applique at
www.straw.com/equilters/library/applique/shamrock.html
There were others. If I were more computer literate, I could have just put the links here to click on, but I'm kind of clumsy about things like that. sorry.
I hope this helps a little. Good luck! I'd be very interesting to see what you come up with! mary z

i have the irish chain book from quilt in a day, it has a shamrock in the back that you can copy for quilting in the plain block, that is what i am using now for a quilt.
