Funny how a simple basic pattern can look so good! I think this would make nice alternate blocks in a quilt too...and a good beginner block..

Caroline, I used a pattern like that called Batik Baby Steps, (or something like that) with white and batik/batik-like fabric. The layouts are numerous and I had a lot of fun doing it. If I did swaps, this would be one I would do, but the postage is too much for me. I called this Chiquita Steps as the gal that ordered a quilt wanted brights and our Accounting Office was upstairs and her nickname was Chiquita around the office. The border is crazy banana fabric because of Chiquita....she was a riot!

This would be a great way to use up yardage that you no longer care for much. I think making the four squares big enough to be one big quilt would be cleaver.

Nice block. Sometimes simple is best!

THANKS for the website--she has several blocks with a calculator (tells you how much fabric and how many pieces/block parts to make, and you can change the size of block and number of blocks--VERY USEFUL
