Gold thread help

I am making a Christmas table runner and I'd like to stitch the veins on the holly leaves with gold thread. It would be machine stitching.
I'm not even sure if the LQS has the gold thread. I'm wondering if anyone has used gold thread and what size needle to use and any tension setting advice you might have.

Thanks a bunch. Sunsup/Sandy

Sandy - it's so good to see you!!!! How have you been? If you go to the Superior Thread website they give you the whole low-down on all the different threads and needles.

Are you coming to Houston Quilt Show this year. We missed you last year. It's in mid-October this year, not the usual 1st weekend of November.

(((hugs)))

Hi Cindg,

I've been lurking some, but life got too busy to post much. I saw your beautiful french braid, WOW!

I'd like to get to Houston, especially to see DD. We'll see.

Thanks for the thread info.

(((hugs)))to you too.

Hi Sandy,
Holon is working on one of Kathy's quilts and she used gold thread. See Photo section. Maybe send Holon a message and see if she will give you some hints.

Are you referring to a metalic thread? I planned to use a metalic thread on my poinsetta quilt, but then found 'the perfect' gold thread in a cotton, so I didn't have to mess with all the issues that come with using a metalic thread. It is color # 1680 Gutterman 50 wt, 100% cotton.
