I am a fire board member and want to make a quilt to be auctioned off for our new fire station we are building. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which quilt-in-a day quilt pattern (queen size) I could use wherein the middle square of each block could hold a nice size action photo of our volunteer firefighters? I would also like to put a photo in the middle of the quilt of our new station. I am a intermediate quilter and would like to do this within the next 6 months. All ideas will be appreciated.

Nana, I just did a quilt for my dad, the pattern is in the Quilts for All Seasons book, the last one in the book. I think its crossroads or something like that. But it has large squares and chain blocks. I made mine in about a weekend (if I could have sat and done it straight through, no interruptions). Mine was a lapsize.

Hope this helps!

Nana's garden could be adapted to something like that with the pics in the center squares and the piecing all around

I just did a Pink Lemonade and it has 6" squares in the middle of the block. Is that large enough?

Have you thought about using a block that resembles flames? Maybe the New York Beauty with another block for your pictures?
