In one of last years exchanges I received a cute list of things you could do with a fat quarter and now that I need it do you think I can find it.. NOOOOOOOOOO.... Does anyone out there have a copy you could send me.. PLEASE... I'm the new fat quarter lady in our guild and thought that would be something cute to start things off with..

I looked at gramajojo's link and really liked the fabric 'box'/basket. I followed the link there to find a tutorial for it. And there is also a link to see lots of them on Flickr.

BTT

Fat quarters are great because they allow you to buy a little of each fabric/pattern and create beautiful projects.

You get a fat quarter by cutting 1/2 yard in half.
A fat quarter is a rectangle of fabric that measures 18 inches by 22 inches.

Fat quarters offer more options than a regular [long skinny 9 x 42"] quarter yard.

ONE FAT QUARTER CAN BE CUT MANY WAYS:

99 - 2 inch squares
56 - 2 1/2 inch squares
42 - 3 inch squares
30 - 3 1/2 inch squares
20 - 4 inch squares
16 - 4 1/2 inch squares
12 - 5 inch squares
12 - 5 1/2 inch squares
9 - 6 inch squares
6 - 6 1/2 inch squares
4 - 8 inch squares
4 - 9 inch squares

There are dozens of books with patterns using fat quarters... also look for Turning Twenty and Yellow Brick Road...

here are some free FQ patterns:

A fat quarter is enough to make a Dammit Doll...I have given several as gifts and they are a bit hit!
