Baby panel- How to stabilize

I have a baby panel that I want to make into a quilt/wall hanging, whatever the new mother will want. The panel is very light and I would like to make it "firmer". I am thinking of ironing something to the back or using a thin and dense batting. I would appreciate suggestion. The mother has chosen a thick fleece for the backing for winter warmth. Linda

I know others will be along to give more specifics, but you should use some type of stabilizer on the back of the panel. Sulky makes many different kinds, for just about any purpose. So you might look at their website , or if you're near a fabric store, they should be able to suggest.

I just know about this, I've never done it, so someone else, what kind should she use?

Why not use fusible batting? Are you going to be hand/machine quilting? I've used panels before and did outline quilting.
