I need your input on buying a new sewing machine. My old Singer XL100 has decided to retire. I have been looking online at a couple. The Bernina 440QE and a Brother 1000. What i want is a machine that has the Stitch Regulator and also has some quilting stitches. NO EMBRODIERY. I am open for any other if you know of one. Also, i cannot find anywhere online that shows how much these are. Can you tell me of one?
I would appreciate your input.

I have a viking quilt designer that is geared toward quilting. It doesn't do embroidery. I like it. You might check out the manufacturer's websites, to get more info.

I have decided on a Janome MC6600p. It does not have the stitch regulator though.
I would just do a lot of homework and check out the manufacturer's websites as ctherrie suggested. Also, if you have an authorized dealer that you trust in your area for the brand you are looking at, go several times and try out several different machines.
You'll probably have a harder time finding prices. I've noticed this in my internet research for the Janome. I think they'd really rather you go to an authorized dealer.
Good luck!

Some local dealers will throw in free classes when you buy from them. Or extra free stuff for the machine.
I know when I bought my Juki, I went back and asked the shop owner if they sold the 1/4" foot. She handed me the foot and I asked "how much," and she said "don't worry about it."
I like the way they run their shop so I try to give them my business as much as possible. I figure I'm helping the local economy.
