Does anyone else have trouble with using invisable thread? I turn my thread tension to "0" and still it bunches up and pops..I would appreciate any help or suggestions you may have..Thanks

The invisible thread that I get from QIAD has caused me no problems.
I have tried two or three other brands and come back to this. It is Wonder Invisible Thread, YLI CORP, ROCk HIll, South Carolina, USA. It is 1500 yards. Invisible thread has a way of curling, but, it works for me.Be patient with it.

Nylon invisible thread causes me nothing but headaches. I bought the poly invisible thread and I haven't had any problems at all.

I am a YLI fan all the way! I use it a lot and love it!

I bought the Sulky brand and haven't had any trouble...once I got the hang of it.

Is it a new spool of thread? Nylon invisible thread can get brittle and break easily, but the newer poly thread lasts a long time. Sulky and YLI are both poly fibers.

What kind of needle are you using? Try Schmetz brand; look for the ones specifically labeled "machine quilting".

How about your stitch length? Machine quilting setting should be 8 stitches per inch. If your stitches are small, that might be the problem as well.

Last, but not least, does your sewing machine need a tune-up? I have found the thread tension is generally the first sign that my buddies need to go in for some TLC...

On my Viking, I had no trouble with invisible thread until I tried to do free motion quilting. I found that Sulky was great and didn't break. But, on my Juki, it doesn't like any of the invisible threads. Haven't tried invisible thread on my Babylock yet.

If you have a thread stand on your machine, use it for invisible thread. Or a separate thread stand that you can set up behind your machine. That helps a lot!

I tried the QIAD Invisible thread on my machine. It works fine. It is very fine and not heavy. I left my tension on #5 and it works ok for me. But, I prefer to use the King Tut regular machine quilting thread to quilt with....I am not a big fan of Invisible thread.

I use the Sulky invisible thread, polyester. You need to wind the bobbin slowly if you are using it in the bobbin. Especially the older nylon kind. Sometimes you need to clean your bobbin case out often. The little pieces hide in there. Try all the other suggestions too; the upright thread holder, adjust tension, different needle, clean machine....etc. I still don't have my tension correct when I try to free motion quilt. Just haven't had time to play around with it. Especially if you are using a different color in the bobbin and the invisible on the top. The bobbin thread shows through. I think you need to loosen the top tension a lot.

My advise is to get rid of the old nylon stuff. Use it only for art quilts. You have to be careful with nylon with the iron, it will melt, the poly doesn't.
