Quilt in a Day Forums

Hello all my friends on the forum - My guild is wanting each member to make a name tag to wear to guild meetings. I'm blank on what to do & thought you might have some suggestions. I made a paper-pieced blue-bird and put my name and office on the bottom but it turned out about the size of a potholder! I'd have to wear it around my neck instead of pinned on my blouse!. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kristi

Does your guild have a logo block? If so, Make a miniature of it with an address label size blank strip at the bottom for your name and whatever else you want to put on it.

I've seen people take pretty quilt labels, write their names on it, then fuse it to a thin layer of batting and backing, then stitch around it, then use pinking shears and trim around the edges. Use either a large safety pin, or a lanyard to wear it.

Thank you both for the suggestions. Our guild does not have a signature block yet but that might be something we should work on. We are in Love County so it could certainly have a heart on it. I think I'll try the label idea. I have several in a drawer & there are more of them than I'll probably ever need for quilts! Thanks for the idea. Kristi

One thing we do at guild is to be sure everyone has an ICE (in case of emergency) phone number on the back of their name tag. You never know when a guild member will fall, faint, or become suddenly ill.

I think the Love County idea is smart. What is the name of the group? We are the Missouri Star Quilters and our name badge is a--you guessed it--Missouri Star!

We're the Love County HCE Quilt Guild - The first year we were the Love County Under-Cover Quilters Guild - HCE but it was just toooo long and no one remembered it exactly so we re-voted & now it's just plain but easy to remember!

we used the peltex 72 which has a fusible on both sides to back our nametags; the same stuff u use with the fabric postcards. we then used a straight stitch of a small zig zag to finish the sides. i made some for my LQS for a shop hop by using the susan branch quilt label fabric panel as evie suggested below. see link http://search.myquiltshops.com/cgi-serv ... search.cgi
