Double The Fun!!!

Post by Caroline1947 » Sat Jan 24, 2009 7:30 am

I hate wasting fabric,so heres what Im doing,,,the petals of the flowers are cut from two rectangles sewed together, using the template shown. That leaves those ends that I dont want to waste ,so they make neat patches for other projects. Natalie will get a nice doll quilt from some..

That's a wonderful idea. Natalie will love her doll quilt. Best of all, they're already sewed together. What size square will 2 end pieces make? And they're such pretty prints too. My mom always said ....waste not, want not. I bet it gives you a little diversion from those Y seams. El made them look easy but I believe you when you say 1 stitch either way !!
Your quilt will be beautiful !! Keep us posted.

Thank you, Ruth! The little leftover squaers measure 3.5 in. after squaring. Nice for many projects!!! I just finished one of the Bides blocks and did not have to pin or draw dots!!! Its getting easier!! I think you sort of find your own way after awhile. I know one place in the book says what direction to sew, and I do it opposite as it works better for me.

Now that's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. I should start looking more closely at what I throw away.

You are so clever..I would have just discarded them...I need to think in terms of scraps more often. Seems the little pieces are just tossed and a doll may go without a quilt.....hmmmmmmmmmm

Don't waste them, give them to Natalie for her stash.
