I will be starting the "Applique in a day" and will use the solid colored Kona cottons it calls for--do you think I could also incorporate some of the reproduction prints that I love?

I don't see why not. I don't have that book-what color is the Kona cotton it calls for? Do they have a sample of the quilt in reproduction fabrics? A lot of times they show pictures of the quilt in different fabrics so you can get an idea of how it will look. I'm sure whatever you decide, it will come out really pretty.

Dianej, On the inside of the back cover of the book, you will find a picture where small print fabric was used in addition to the Kona.
I have four of them done and ready to start cutting the fabric for another....it's slow going for me, but I'll eventually get there.

Hi Diane,
I am really excited that you are going to make Applique in a Day! I made a 9 block quilt for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I am more proud of that quilt than any other I have ever made! It turned out beautiful, despite my workmanship! lol
I would definitely use some of the small print reproductions in your quilt! I think they would add a lot to the beauty. I made mine in all small prints. Can't wait to see a picture of it when you finish! You are an inspiration, I want to make another one now! lol

Diane - there is no such thing as the quilt police. You can use whatever fabric you want and what you think will look good. I'm a bit of a rebel so I never use the suggested fabrics. Everyone has different tastes - for that quilt I would have to use batiks. Let us know what you decide to use. I'm sure it will be beautiful.

diane, i am also getting the fabrics together to start that quilt. i have chosen kona fabs and some of the reproductions from my stash. it sure looks like a pretty quilt, my problem is i am still quilting on a quilt for one of my sons and he saw that book and said oh momma i want that one. sooooooooo he now wants to learn to quilt, he is 40 and a machinest, his wife doesn't sew but i taught his 14 yr old son to make a quilt when he was 10 so maybe i will have a quilter after all, a son and a grandson.

Would anyone please be able to tell me what book the "Applique in a day" is from, or maybe that IS the name of the book? Also if anyone has one done or in the works, can you please share a photo. Thanks so much

Chrissy, The name of the book is Applique in a Day and it's Series Six of the Quilt Block Party. There are also fusibles available with the designs printed on them all ready to sew to the fabric. For me, this the best way to go for this quilt.
I thought I had a picture of at least one of the blocks I did, but I can't find it in my files. If I have a chance before leaving this afternoon, I'll try and get one up if someone hasn't by then.
