UPDATE see Quilting Photos post. Problem with wrinkled sky... Photo added

Post by WeeOne »

12/17: This Dolphin wall hanging is now posted in Quilting Photos.

12/15 UPDATE: I have fixed the wall hanging. I'll try & post Photos & what I did to fix later this week. Thanks again for all the ideas!

I've made a dolphin stain glass wall hanging for a Christmas present. When I was putting the fabric & fusible web together, my web wasn't wide enough. Fusible web instructions said to butt the edges of web together & tape the paper backing. Seemed OK until I started sewing down the bias tape and rolling the wall hanging to fit in machine. There is a long wrinkle looking thing going across the sky. I've tried to iron it away, but still shows some. I wasn't going to do any other quilting on it, but do you think I should quilt around the clouds in the sky to try and hide it. DH says it looks like a con trail of an airplane....leave it to a Pilot to come up with that! If I quilt clouds, should I use clear thread or a light blue.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!!
Lyn

Lyn...........I think quilting clouds in the light blue would work out. I'd love to see a picture of it when you're all done, sounds so pretty.

This wall hanging is a rectangle, almost a square, less than an 1/8" difference across top & bottom. Sorry the photo makes it look like the top is bigger than the bottom.

Straight close together cross hatch quilting across the sky would will hide the wrinkle. It may not be the look you were wanting but not much choice to not do something. Cross hatching looks nice against curved piecing. Just my opinion.

I LOVE your wallhanging. I also love cross hatching and agree that it would look very nice and hide the wrinkle. Laura

This may be of no help at all, but have you tried moistening the wrinkle and then ironing?

Lyn,
You might be able to quilt a few seagulls into it some small, may one large. just don't put the large one smack dab in the middle of the line... that way you might be able to get away with not having to quilt very much onto it. Make sure that you hold fabric taught as you go to "ease" into the seagull..........
Show us pics when you're done....
Blessings
