Quilt Labels

I need help on making labels. Do you use a fabric pen, hand embroidery, embroidery machine, or some other method to make the label? What size should it be? Is it proper to put the label in the bottom right hand corner?

I use my embrodiery machine. But in my opinion it's up to what you feel like. I use my machine and embrodier the label then I turn under the raw edges. Then i pick a decorative stitch and edge it. As far as placement goes, where ever I feel like. I like to put it in a lower corner at a slant. Kaddie corner

I have used the embroidery feature on my sewing machine and I've also done them by hand with a permanent pen. I recently bought a book of iron-on labels which I color in using Crayola crayons then put a paper bag on top of it and iron it to get the wax out and set the color. I fill in the blanks with perm. pen. I usually put mine in the lower corner on the back.

The short answer is 'yes'.

I've used the Pigma pens and wrote directly on the back of wall hangnigs. I've used the lettering module of my sewing machine to write out on the quilt front and also along the binding. I've printed labels with my ink jet printer.

There is a book called One-Of-A-Kind Quilt Labels by Thea Neud that has neat ideas -- although by the time I get the binding on, a simple label is about all I have in me.
