I am wanting to make a quilt of stars. I want as many different 12 1/2" unfinished star block patterns that I can find. Please post links to your favorite or the name of your favorite 12 1/2" star block.

Thanks to everyone.

I got the Stars across America, can't wait to make some of them.

What a neat idea. A great place to see a lot of patterns - stars and otherwise is Marcia Hohn's site. (music plays, so turn off your speakers first if it will wake someone).

Debbie, I have used Marti Michell's Template Set E many times to make the LeMoyne Star or otherwise called 8 point Star. It is so easy. You can find these sets on Ebay or at Quilt Shops. It makes a finished 12 in. block. Matter of fact I have the blocks done in 30's reproductions that I hand pieced using these yrs ago, that I need to set into a top. But I have 6 little bitty 3 or 4 in LeMoyne Star cornerstone blocks to finish so I can set it all together. LOL Good Luck. Let us know what you end up doing. I love Stars.

Hugs

Debbie,
Look into a book titled Flying Geese and More by Joan Hawley. I used this book to make some Christmas gifts last year. I made hot pads and pot holders for a group of church friends. I had a blast making all sorts of patterns from that book. I didn't necessary stick with the star patterns but there were plenty of them. Good luck and have fun.

Hi Debbie,

I recently purchased the pattern only for a current BOM called "Stars Around the Garden". You can find it here:

http://www.homesteadhearth.com/programs ... Garden.htm

Here's a link to a FREE Stars Sampler, but I couldn't find it...

http://www.bomquilts.com/proddetail.php ... 122007-SR2

This FREE Stars Sampler is for 6" blocks, but couldn't they be easily doubled?

Eleanor Burns does "Stars Across America" sampler, here,

http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponline/b ... .asp?i=660

There is a nice variety of FREE star blocks here,

http://www.quiltbus.com/Free-Quilt-Blocks-II.htm

Beth Ferrier's "Hidden Star" Sampler book here,

http://applewd.com/page18.html

Maybe some of these might inspire you. Good luck, have fun!!

busylife, your potholders are so neat. I am working on Christmas gifts and will be using your potholders for inspiration.

I love stars so have bought several books and patterns. I prefer the ones Eleanor Burns does. Stars Across American, Log Cabin Star blocks, etc. She is amazing and makes them simple enough I can follow.

I have Joan Hawley's book and ruler. I love this ruler and am on a star swap on another group and using this ruler to make all my stars. I love this ruler, it is the best!
