Question for Paper Piecers

Post by notwhatiseam » Fri Sep 19, 2008 2:18 pm

Working on paper pieced stars to put on a quilt in progress. The stars are five point stars, and my issue with them is the bulk in the middle where all the seams meet. Anyone have any advice or should I just go pull my hair out now?

Thanks!

Tried that. Unless I'm totally "fan challenged" it doesn't seem to work for me. Just so dang many points coming together at one place! Think I'll just go stick my tongue out at em and find something more relaxing to do. Which of course means I may never get this quilt finished.

Yep, put a piece of fabric over the bump and get a hammer and hammer the bulk down with a couple of hard blows. It works.

sewbug, I think I'll just try that. Off to the shop to get the hammer. Beats pulling my hair out.

In the quilting classes I have taken we have made several blocks that have8 seams coming together and we always press the final center seam open. Helps with the bulk. Kristi
