Don't ever say "never" again. You may just end up doing triangels before you know it! Of course you may learn a different way to do them too!
The quilt will be fine. Your Mother won't notice the flaws. The colors are very pretty.

Sandy, I don't think your mother will notice either. It is a pretty quilt with pretty colors. As far as your points and seams matching - practice practice practice and a little diligence. All of mine don't exactly match every time but I just use Eleanor's rule: When you drive by your quilt at 10 mph and you can't see the goof then your quilt is OK.

It honestly doesn't look that bad. To you yeah, you know every wrong patch. I see a quilt someone made to bring joy to someone. That's all that matters. Wouldn't you love a quilt someone you loved made just for you? Don't fret over quilting mistakes. And remember if quilting was hard, it wouldn't be a fun thing to do.

I was expecting something FAR worse than this! This looks great compared to some of my first ones... THEN you learn little tricks, like how to sew triangles and not have to worry about that excess stretch that fabric has when cut on the bias! You'll get there.
By the way, my mother also has dementia and is in a nursing home. She thinks all my things are just gorgeous, no matter how bad I see them. Finish it for her. You will be so glad you did when you get it back, after she doesn't need it anymore.
Joanne
p.s. be strong... that dementia is a horrible, horrible disease. She evidently still remembers you. Mine doesn't know me anymore. Only her body is there for me to hold. I wish they would find a cure for this. You have to grieve twice... once when the mind dies and again when the body dies.

I meant to also say that quilting hides a multitude of errors.

Sandy you are being way to hard on yourself. Finish the quilt for your mom. This may be the only thing she connects with when things get bad. You'll be glad you did........Jan in Punxsy

I agree you are being a little hard on yourself. I don't think I would have ever done triangles for my first quilt. Nothing is perfect the first time. Your mother will love it because you made it. Personally I would finish it and be proud you tried. Remember the old quilter saying if you have a mistake and the quilt is finished all you say is "I made the quilt that way on purpose" and who is to say you didn't.
By the way the colors are great.

Sandy, your quilt is pretty. Don't be so hard on yourself! Geez, I wish my first quilt looked as good as yours. Your mom is going to love it. Finish it and give it to her with pride.

You ladies are being overly kind but I do appreciate it. I will finish it for Mom to use and hide it when we have people over.

Mom lives with me and my husband and she is fading but still somewhat aware. I like the 10mph rule but I think it would take 50 for this one. I have made baby quilts and 2 lap quilts that came out pretty good, I think this was just to advanced for me.
Joanne if you would like to share the little tricks with me I would be thrilled if you send me a PM
Thanks you ladies I feel a little better
