I am getting ready to begin the Christmas stitching and I need input. I am not up to making quilts for Christmas...maybe next year!
I need ideas on what to stitch for gifts. I am interested in the useful that are easy stitching.
Some of the things I will make:
ironing board covers, clothes pin bags, plastic bag holders, decorate tea towels, fleece throws, purses/totes
All suggestions are appreciated and enjoyed.

I bought a pattern and made some cute aprons. Gonna make "matching" potholders to go with them. Hopefully!

I have made quite a few pillow covers lately. You piece them like a mini-quilt, a few I have quilted directly onto the batting. Then I add an overlapping back so the covers are removable for washing. You need to plan on an overlap of about 4 inches on the back for good coverage.
Great way to use up scraps: I just made one as a wedding gift with materials *entirely from my stash*. They work up fast and really add a nice touch to a sofa or a bed.

What about table runners? I like all the other ideas too.

I think pin cushions are a very useful thing. Seems I never have enough. And there are such cute patterns available and they can be made from "stash".
One thing I made and find so so useful/handy is a toilet paper holder for that extra roll. It hangs right beside the "in use" roll. that way, when the roll runs out, you don't have to search and reach for another roll. Great for guests, too, who don't know where you keep your extra supply. I made mine from yo-yo's, but they could be made with strips, crazy quilt style or favorite blocks in small sizes sewn together.

I had not made table runners before last Holiday season. I won the Lotto Block swap here on the forum and made up several runners. Quick and variations are endless. They were well received also, which is always a concern for me.
Have fun, and let us know what you decide on.

Hot pads or mats. Mine always get too stained to come clean, or burned in the oven. New ones always welcome!

This is my Christmas idea for this year. I bought sack cloth towels and Kitty Kat iron on transfers. I am making my red work blue. I bought them from Kim(not my Kim). She is in my guild and has a Sunbonnet Sue web site. kim@sunbonnetsue.com .The thing I like best is that it goes faster in one color....LOL
Happy Quilting....Kathy
I just tried her site and google could not find it. I will call her tomorrow.
