My mind is just not working tonight but could someone just tell me how much fabric I need to do an Single Irish Chain for a king sized quilt using two fabric colors using the demtions in the book that is marked second edition??? I want to do a fussy cut using the example that is in the back of the Irish Chain book. I bought fabric for the Double Irish Chain but can't for the life of me figure out what I need for the single. I feel really stupid.

I don't have the book marked second edition. Mine says First Printing but I hope this helps.
King Quilt - Single Chain
Light - 3 2/3 yards
Dark - 1 2/3 yds
This doesn't include a border.
Hope this helps you. Maybe someone else has that particular edition.

In the "Second Edition" book it says to use a total of 5 3/4 yards (2 3/4 yards of the background and 2 1/2 yards for the chain) It takes an additional 2 1/8 yards for the 6 1/2 inch boarder & 1 1/8 for the binding. This makes a 9 block x 9 block assembly. Hope this helps.

Do allow extra fabric for the fussy cutting.
