Speaking of thread

I just bought some bobbin thread. Any suggestions, hints, or words of advice? I think I understand that the bobbin thread is thinner then the regular weight of thread. Is that right? Has anyone found it makes a difference in their machine quilting?

I wind my bobbins from the same spool I use on the top. Unless I'm using invisible.

I use same thread in bobbin as what I use on top....except for the invisible thread. Sews much better if threads are the same top and bottom.

I use thin thread for top and bottom with a 60/8 needle for the thin thread. I like Bottom Line from Superior and The Finishing Touch thread I buy at the local Janome dealership. Also Coats and Clark make a thin bobbin thread on a mini cone that is very good. I seldom use any other for piecing. After using the thin thread, most regular thread looks like rope to me! I use YLI silk thread for machine quilting. It's the best thread I've ever used to make my quilting look like I know what I'm doing.

I also use the same for top and bobbin. Have had no problems at all.

I only use bobbin thread in embroidery. It keeps the bulk down when the designs are sewn out. I like the others usually use the same thread top & bottom when piecing blocks. When quilting it depends if I want the thread to disappear in the backing or stand out. A lot of times I use varigated in the top, it hides a lot of sins

Same thread in bobbin as top needle. It works best that way. I am trying King Tut thread now. It is nice. I think YLI and Superior are good too.
