Fusible fleece

Has anyone used fusible fleece in their projects? I would like to make a tote bag from a pattern I bought in Paducah. The bag will be on the large side, but only uses batting. Would fusible fleece add more body to the bag? How would you use it in the construction (as I don't have directions for using it).

Hi,

I posted some pictures of my charm totes (you can do a search and find them) and I used fusible fleece. It definitely gives the totes more "body". At a quilt show a few weeks ago I saw the same bag without the fleece and it wasn't the same at all. Very droopy.

If you type in this URL you can see my step by step construction of the bag:

It's very easy to use. You lay it on the ironing board with the fusible or shiny/metallic side UP. Then you lay the fabric on top with the wrong side of fabric on the fusible. Then you iron the fabric. You never iron the fusible directly.

Hope that helps.

I just made one of SFO/Michelle's totes with the Fusible fleece and it is WONDERFULL! I plan on buying a bolt (like Michelle did) and use it for runners and some lap quilts. It irons on and makes a very nice quilt sandwich for free motion.

I love the stuff! Thanks Michelle!

Wow I went to your gallery, and I loved your bag. Do you put the fusible fleece on both the top fabric and the lining fabric?

Thanks for the info.

I just purchased some more fusible at Joann's on sale for 50 perrcent off. I have used it in purses and table runners and it is wonderful. Carol

Yes, this pattern calls for fleece on the front and back panels and both panels of lining.

Michelle,
Do you make the lining and quilt it seperate from the outside. I looked at your pictures but wasn't sure if the lining is the back side of the charms or seperate.
Is there different weights for the fleece?
