Quilt backing material for tops?

Does anyone ever use the beautiful quilt backing they have out now for making tops? If you think about it...you can get some of the backing material for as litle as $7.00 to $9.00 a yard. That would be a great price for a piece of fabric 100 or more inches by 36. It seems to be the same as most fabrics. I know I have done muslin backing like this before to use a background in the blocks. ~Abbigail~

I always have pieces of backing left over and it often finds it's way into quilt tops.

Oh, yes, matter of fact I just bought some TTS wide backing from QIAD that I intend to use for tops. And one of my favorite background fabrics I use often is a "wide backing". When it's on sale, it turns out to be almost 1/2 the price of the regular size. Great bargain.

Hi All,
I use backing a lot on my tops. My two queen size Double pin-wheels are nothing but backing. Also the lite green is used for backing also.
In the quilt I just finished the purple in it is backing also. I like the patterns, and colors. When I need a background fabric , and need a lot I rather try to use a backing. Rather buy 1 or 2 yards then 5 yards and have left overs too small to use.
