When we were really strapped for money I bought several pieces of fabric that now I would never use. I snipped a corner of each and passed the rest on to our local community center. Some ladies get together and make aprons and long bids for the folks in the nursing homes. They also offer classes for the children to learn how to sew. They sure have some dedicated volunteers

That's a great thing for you to do! Sounds like they made good use out of your old stuff. The way the economy is going, we may get back to a Great Depression type way of living. I'm keeping all of my fabric because the price of cotton is supposed to double in price in the next year or two. Fabrics are going to made from bamboo instead of cotton and I believe it will be so expensive at first that if we don't keep our stashes, we will be cutting into our clothes. I've giev so much away, but I'm goingt o handg on to it now. Amie :o)

I wonder if we should start buying more fabric now since the prices are going to be going up in the near future. It is hard enough for me to figure out how much fabric to buy now when I have a certain quilt in mind so it would be really hard for me to figure out how much to buy not really knowing what quilt pattern I will be using it for. But I sure like the idea of buying more fabric even though my DH says I have too much now.

I just stocked up on fabric, so that when the prices keep going up, at least I can "save" and not have to go out and buy fabric hahahaha.... It was a good excuse to go crazy and buy up tons of Eleanors fabrics. I love her Victory Quilt fabrics,,,,
