I've finally got the borders on the quilt, and I've pieced the bindings. For now I'll add it to the stack until I get to the point where I can quilt it.
A couple of years ago a friend gave me this piece of brown fabric because in her words 'it's ugly'.
There is about 1 1/4 yard, but it's only 34 inches wide. I have no idea what to make with it.
I've gathered several FQ which go well with it, but still no ideas.
Anyone have any ideas? (like I need to start another project. What can I say -- I'm cleaning the sewing room and this was found.)

Last night I finished pieceing the top together. Now to figure out the borders.

Hi! Before you cut that "ugly" fabrics-WAIT! Hold up a sec because if it's 34", then it's an authentic vintage feedsack or "material". I have several of these and am too scared to cut them. I WANT to but too chicken. I love the FQ's you've gathered to keep the "ugly" company. I hope you go ahead and make a quilt out of the feedsack, it deserves to be a cuddly

3 more fat quarters and you can make a nice lap size Yellow Brick Road. I think you've picked out awesome matching fabrics.

Your choice of fabric is beautiful. Don't know what pattern you could make. You may find something on quilters cache. Sometimes I surf the net and put in free quilt patterns. You should get something you could use. Good luck. Don't forget to post pic when finished.

I think what every you make it will be beautiful! I like the "ugly" fabric to start with and I really like the FQ you got to go with it.

Knitnoid, great job in coordinating things to go with the "ugly" fabric! It's not so bad, really...maybe use it as the "dark" to set off the other prints in pieced blocks? The browns in the other fabrics look really nice with it.
Doesn't sound like there's enough to use as a border, unless the finished piece is small...and it's a subtle stripe, so cutting border strips from it might be a real bear!

I think a YBR or a Disappearing Nine Patch type quilt would be great. Then again, I try to do all my quilts scrappy, using as many different fabrics & colors as I can, so keep that in mind too! I don't think this brown piece is bad, especially with you mixing it with other colors, you 've got a great combination going there, so just find a block you like & go for it, you might be surprised! Then, be sure to post a pic of it for us, okay!
Good luck & have fun with it!

Knitnoid - the fabrics you pulled to go with the 'ugly' one are just wonderful. They will make a beautiful quilt no matter what pattern you use. How about Twin Sisters? Would that be a good pattern to use?
