Seeing those pictures makes me want to stay in my sewing room 24/7.

I just talked to my girlfriend whose son is in Afghanistan. There are 40 in his platoon. He is with the 235th MP's.

Also talked to my favorite LQS and she is going to give me a deal on fabric.

Fantastic, SHARONMAMAW! Anxious to get the e-mail address. Love the pics, thanks so much for sharing those with us! Which one is Bradlee? And grammy, see if you can get me an e-mail address, too. My DH says he'd like to send out a minimum of 300 "socks", so while we wait to get contact names and e-mail addresses, let's keep sewing and pump 'em out.

grammy, you asked about the fillers, we have that list that was on the internet of what to send, but my DH is going to discuss it with whomever he makes arrangements with and see what they'd like. There may be specific items they want more than others, so we'll ask them. And yes, if anyone can't make a "sock", but would like to contribute, that is very welcome, too. I am danged excited now that we're close to getting a contact to finalize the arrangements! Yahoo!

Is it too late to join in on making Christmas stockings for the troops? I meet with a group of girls on thursday and I'm sure they
would like to get involved.

I line mine with muslin, I found a pretty nice one for 1.99 at Joann's and then used a 50% off cupon. It washed up really nice.

I also found some solids, red, green, dark blue for 2.99 for the backs and used a cupon for those also.

I was getting some fuzzy stuff for the cuff (for Iraq Project) but they don't have it anymore so will have to find something else. Maybe flannel or fleece.

GP. . .a few are in the mail today (7/24) so should get to you this weekend.

Sunsup. . .anyone can download the stocking and directions from this, QIAD, website. Go to the "Free Patterns" on the bottom of the page and find the little stocking. This way anyone has the directions and the stocking pattern can be enlarged by 155% at a copy place like Kinkos, the UPS stores, or anywhere there is a copier that will enlarge. I checked with QIAD-Linda and since it is free here, there is no copyright infringement.

Oasis, thanks so much for your help! Can't wait to see your "socks" and I'll try to get pics posted as I start receiving these. This is really wonderful that so many are joining in on this, I'm thrilled to pieces!

grammy, haven't figured that out yet. As soon as we get an e-mail address and contact then my DH will find out all the particulars for us. I'd guess the end of Oct. to have them to me, but I honestly don't know yet. We should have info real soon, though.
