Pines indeed--Christmas tree with presents under it. You'll be using the triangle in a square rulers (and yes, you really do need the rulers which is really okay because it's a wonderful ruler set--you can make lots of quilts--I use mine often!!) There is also a 'half-rectangle' ruler that would be useful. We used it last year as the 'Magnolia bud' ruler (same ruler) but you can use the template in the pattern so you don't need that one. You'll need colored scraps for presents and trunk, 2 backgrounds plus a green for the tree (I don't think anything needed more than 1/2 yd, but let me double check before you buy (mostly I checked to see that nothing was bigger than a yard, since that's what I ususally buy!)
It's great--can probably be pieced in a day. I'm thinking of making it really big, of course, by adding more rows!

Thanks, Sally!! Don't have my pattern yet, but because of your hints, I have now packed my Triangle in a Square rulers for Cedar Glen! Maybe a little green fabric should go in, too? I leave in about 2 1/2 hours for the airport!

okay, have the pattern in front of me. Background #1 1/4 yd., tree green 1/4 yd, background 2 (around tree) 1/2 yd., first border 1/4 yd., second border and binding 7/8 yd., backing 1 yd plus scraps for gifts and star. You'll also need 1/4" ribbon (2 differnet ones if you can, each about 8" long for the presents) Finishes at 27" X 32". This is really nice!! Not sure if I should upload the pic but since you asked..... (Robin let me know if this is a 'no no')

Lucky, lucky Ann is off to Quilt Camp with El and staff at Camp Cedar Glen in Julian! I got to go to camp (and yes, Ann was there) for the last 3 years--don't get to go this year. Maybe next year I'll get to go again (unless I find the $$$s to go on the cruise next Fall!!!). I'll bet she'll have this one done by Saturday morning!! Pics please, Ann!

I got my pattern today.....yay!! I checked and I've got the ruler too. One day I'll get all of these patterns made! It looks like a fun pattern to do.

Haven't got the pattern yet, but ordered the rulers. And guess what? I was straightening up the sewing room and found the rulers. Now I have two sets....ugh.
