Oh my word - what a beautiful - wonderful-lovely-luscious- any other words that describe how great that quilt is.!!!! I did one similar for my mom and I used cabled feathers in the borders - I had more open corners and used a cabled-feathered heart in my open corners. It took me awhile but I got it hand-quilted - let us know how it is coming

Redtop, All I can say is WOW!!!! If you can do something like this without a pattern, I can not imagine what you could do with a pattern. That is one of the prettiest quilts I have seen in a long time. So much work involved and to just do it as you go just baffles me. I don't use patterns a lot either but I sure don't tackle anything like this. thank you so much for sharing. What an inspiration to us all.
