I'm still debating whether I have the time to get involved with this swap -- probably not. (If you're still taking more people...)

Maybe this is a strange question, but since several people have been ending up with 14" blocks including seam allowances, would it be easier for those with larger blocks to re-sew seams a teeny bit larger and just plan for 13 1/2" finished blocks?

(It seems easier to make things a bit smaller than try to convince the blocks to get bigger. Then again, I haven't tried making this block yet, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.)

I love the blocks you've posted pictures of!

DJ, I used the quarter foot that came with my machine. Do you think I should change the white background? Will not put white on the others.

Don't know what kind of flower it is. I'm only using scraps from my stash. Can't afford to buy more fabric, right now.

Thank you for your kind remark.

No Loretta don't change it. And believe me I understand about the no buy.

Abbi - we moved about 5 years ago. Then we inherited my MIL's house so we moved into it in November. During our packing DH found 15 boxes of fabric that had not been opened since the move 5 years ago. He then started SNOOPING. When we packed up my sewing room and stash to move I was labeling boxes "sewing room." He was numbering boxes for the sewing room. When he got to box 40, he gave the order no more fabric. I was able to get him to allow me to buy batting and backings to finish the oustanding number of tops but that was it. I was able to hide a couple F4s in my purse about 2 weeks ago because I needed some fabric to make the mermaid for the medallion in the RR.

lorettav- What's wrong with the white background? Looks good to me!! This is going to be a fun quilt to put together, sort of a scrappy, flower look.

Sarah - the problem was I was putting it in boxes and therefore didn't really keep an eye on what I had. I was rebuying some of the same pieces. So then I went to the plastic boxes (bins). Bought about 30 of those but it just got so expensive. So I have both plastic bins and boxes. In one of my guild newsletters they showed a technique where you book your fabric. By doing this it reduces the bulk down to half. I have done 4 bins with this technique and it reduced it down by almost 2 bins. Just alot of work because you have to press each piece of fabric and then book it. Maybe had I done this earlier my stash would not have overwhelmed DH:)

DJ, please clarify this booking method. I might need to do something like that for my patterns. I almost bought a new pattern last week and talked myself out of it and I just noticed yesterday that I have it! I have no idea when I bought it. Scary! :)

Oh DJ you sound just like me! Well I don't have that much ...yet. My biggest problem is that I have my in the plastic totes but they are all stacked in a closet, they sit sideways in it. Anytime I want fabric I have to take all the bins out to see what I want. They are boxed by colors or holidays. It's just so much trouble to move everything around that I just usually go buy more. I'm thinking now I may move the totes into the master bedroom closet so I can at least stack them straight in and I would only have to move whatever bins are on top of the one I want instead of moving all of the ones in front of it.

Donna, come join us!
