i got my apple pattern yesterday. It looks very nice and pretty, but I'm not really into hangings, etc. So, I think I'll skip this one for now, maybe sometime I'll give it a try or at least the bag.

I'm also giving up on making the quilt from the crosses and stars. The first block I tried to make was just so confusing. I think one of the reasons was that I was trying to make a block with the dark background and all the instructions in the book were for light background. There's just one little reference on how to sew the strips for the dark background. I just couldn't make the switch. And the amount I would have had to cut to make the "line straight", which I didn't make it straight, just coulnd't bring myself to change that much of the size.

I'll just try to finish the couple that I'm working on and wait to see what September pattern might be.

like bluebonnet, i don't want to discourage anyone from being creative with these patterns, just my opinions and why no pictures from me.

I like the potholder idea...............and maybe the apples could be the pockets on an apron. We always go up to Julian during the apple festival, so maybe an apple tote would be fun to take.

Thanks for all the kind words. It was great fun to make. Faces and leaves were appliqued (I did use fusible rather than needle turn!) I did change the 'leaf' in the apple quilt to a stem and modified the original white framing border (only because I cut the corners before I added the other border--got in too much of a hurry--fortuantely it was easy to fix!) Just think, for Thanksgiving you could leave off the faces and maybe put a turkey in the corners.....great design, just the right size and very adaptable!
